JOB SUMMARY
This position works Saturdays January – Early March supervising Recreation Basketball games. The Director is responsible for the successful facilitation of all activities schedule at their location. The anticipated schedule is 7-9 Saturdays during the season. 1-2 Weeknight meetings.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Effectively communication with parents, participants, coaches and referees.
- Able to resolve on site conflicts.
- Ensure activities take place as scheduled.
- Assigns work schedules, supervises and evaluates staff.
- Maintains accountability of and is responsible for the health and safety of all participants.
- Maintains game score and stats accurately on scoreboard and score book.
- Is considered a first responder for all medical emergency procedures and may be exposed to possible health risks.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conduct staff meetings as necessary.
- Responsible for activity equipment.
- Performs related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of basketball rules.
- Able to maintain a basketball score book.
- Able to operate a scoreboard.
- Strong leadership and administrative skills.
- Ability to motivate staff, volunteers and participants.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT/ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Able to lift light objects up to 50 pounds.
- Able to perform moderately difficult skills such as writing and typing.
- Able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as instruction of a skill.
- Able to walk, run, stand, and sit for prolonged periods.
- Able to see objects far away and closely.
- Able to maintain focus within a loud environment such as a gymnasium.
- Able to concentrate on moderate details with constant interruption.
- Able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others during the course of the day.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older.
- At least two years previous experience in supervising staff preferred.
- Reliable transportation.
- Must work flexible hours and weekends.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
