Position Announcement
Be present on the fitness floor to help facilitate a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for patrons at the Student Life and Wellness Center. Provide personal and group training services to clientele of all fitness levels of the UVU community (students, staff, faculty, and alumni). Personal trainers are responsible for educating clients and enforcing policies regarding safe and proper use of equipment. Individuals holding this position must be able to develop, document, and implement one-on-one, partner, or group workout programs that match the needs and goals of clients. This person must be able to instruct clients on basic exercise physiology and inform them of proper lifting and exercise techniques. This person will have knowledge of all fitness floor policies and be able to communicate to a diverse group of patrons why the policies are in place.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Conduct personal training sessions for individuals or small groups following protocols and industry standards. Motivate and educate clients on health and fitness related to their goals. Provide patrons with detailed individualized workout program based on their fitness results.
- Ensures that safety standards are enforced and that department and facility policies are followed.
- Actively market and promote personal fitness services and our facility and programs.
- Develop reports and surveys to document use and satisfaction of services.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Personal Training Certification of a major national association (NSCA, ACSM, AFAA, NASM, ACE) CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
- High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years of age.

- Knowledge of proper and effective massage therapy techniques.
- Knowledge of evaluating client symptoms and designing and implementing the proper massage therapy treatment plans as appropriate.

- Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
- Knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles.
- Knowledge of personal fitness training techniques.
- Knowledge of programs and services in the Student Life and Wellness Center.
- Knowledge of methods for promoting and increasing fitness in patrons.
- Skills in interpersonal communication and presenting.
