Position
The Lakeville Area Arts Center is accepting applications for a Community Band Director. This position is responsible for direct oversight of the Lakeville Area Community Band, working closely with the Lakeville Area Arts Center (LAAC) Manager.

Hours:
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings year round at Lakeville South high school from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Concerts include Summer performances, holiday concerts and a spring band festival with the Lakeville Area schools. Other events and performances are also possible.

Average hours is approximately 2.5 hours per week.

The Community Band Director Reports to:
Lakeville Area Arts Center Manager
Major Areas of Accountability

1. The Director plans and prepares an organized, balance music program, encouraging members to develop individual skills.
2. The Director selects and orders music, shirts and supplies (within the budget provided by LAAC).
3. The Director, in consideration of the Band’s section abilities, has sole discretion for selection and planning all concert works presented by the Band.
4. The Director will help to maintain the band roster with the LAAC office, ensuring all member dues and waivers are up-to-date.
5. The Director will coordinate rehearsal and concert dates, music programs and marketing communications through the LAAC Manager.
6. Long term planning and future recommendations are to be coordinated with the LAAC Manager.

Qualifications
Three years of experience with middle school or higher level band.
Prior experience in successfully organizing and directing a midsized band.
Ability to communicate and work well with musicians of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels.
