The wage claim specialist position is in our downtown Chicago office located at 160 N. LaSalle Street, Chicago, IL. This position serves under the direction of the Executive 2 and is responsible for processing a caseload of Wage Claims requests to ensure that the working people of Illinois are paid correctly and in full. Job Responsibilities
- Reviews all wage claim mail pertaining to assigned caseload.
- Serves as wage claim case coordinator, responsible for all initial phases of processing the back wage claim, including oral and written communications with claimant and employers in English
- Responds to complex technical inquiries regarding provisions under the Wage Payment and Collection Act received by phone or in person, counsels’ individuals concerning legal aspects of the Act
- Answers inquiries from employers and employees concerning the status of wage claims filed with the Department of Labor and performs other duties related to the processing of the claims
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental developmental equivalent to four years of high school
- Requires two years of personnel or payroll work experience preferably or one year of wage claim experience.
Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)
- Two years of experience working with Wage Payment and Collections Act.
- Two years of professional experience working with records and maintaining accurate case file information.
- Two years of professional experience working with claimants to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships.
- One year of experience working with arithmetic, clerical, and office practices and procedures.
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm (Flex Schedules) 1 day remote
