About the Role

  • We’re looking for a Localization Lead to join our International Tech UX team. You will be responsible for overseeing and managing the process of adapting different products, services to specific regions or languages. You will be responsible for the localization strategy for different platforms. This role involves a range of tasks to ensure that the localized content is culturally appropriate, accurate, and effective for the target audience. It also requires working from our Sunnyvale office a minimum of two days per week.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Localization Editors and LQA specialists.
  • Identify opportunities to grow the Localization team practice across Walmart.
  • Create localization strategies that consider the market’s demographics, language preferences, cultural nuances, and consumer behavior.
  • Understand and scope the resources necessary to execute on the priorities for different teams.
  • Develop scalable localization processes that enable teams to design global products that are culturally sensitive to different markets.
  • Guiding Engineer and Product teams in the creation of scalable localization processes.
  • Partner with Engineering to improve our technical approach to internationalization.
  • Ensuring that localized content is properly integrated into websites, applications, and other digital platforms, and is accessible and functional for users in the target market.
  • Create and implement processes to ensure the quality and accuracy of localized content, including linguistic, cultural, and technical aspects.
  • Identifying and managing localization service providers, such as translation agencies and freelancers, to ensure they adhere to the company’s localization guidelines and deliver quality work.
  • Regularly evaluating the effectiveness of localization efforts through key performance indicators (KPIs), user feedback, and market performance to refine the strategy and make improvements as needed.
  • Ensure the creation and maintenance of linguistic assets: translation memories, glossaries, style guides, reference materials for the language/market of expertise.
  • Guide the ongoing evolution of the Localization team,
  • Communicate effectively with Content Designers, Product Managers, Technical Program Managers, Engineers, Team leads, and stakeholders from a variety of disciplines.
  • Articulate kindly your sound rationale to stakeholders about specific linguistic choices when needed.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

What you’ll bring:

  • 2+ years managing localization teams. M.B.A. is a plus.
  • B.A./B.S. or equivalent 4-year university degree. Translation, linguistics, or similar field of study.
  • 5+ years of experience managing multiple languages for translation.
  • Experience with the creation and implementation of localization strategies.
  • Fluency in a second language aside from English.
  • Experience selecting and managing localization vendors.
  • Experience working in a global, cross-functional, multilingual team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization.
  • Experienced user in e-commerce websites and apps, with knowledge of retail online platforms.
  • Proven track record of translation and localization experience for software applications.

The annual salary range for this position is $144,000.00-$216,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

– Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)

– Stock equity incentives

Minimum Qualifications…

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX design, graphic design, visual communication, product design, computer science, information technology, or related area and 4 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area. Option 2: 6 years’ experience in UI/UX, interactive and visual design, electronics art, multimedia design, or related area.
