Sr Product Manager Tech, AWS Central Econ (PGE)

The AWS Central Econ team is hiring a Sr. Product Manager (Tech) to lead Pricing and Growth Economics (PGE) from a product standpoint. AWS teams use PGE’s applied economics and data science to improve pricing and influence high-impact business decisions across AWS. Our key engagements involve estimating impact for sales and partner engagements and developing prescriptive pricing tools for AWS deals. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that has been growing in success, scale, and impact. This role will own PGE’s product roadmap. You will work back from our current and future customers to design new products, prioritize our existing products, and serve as an overlay in prioritizing ad-hoc request from the business. The successful candidate will be a person who thrives when analyzing complex and ambiguous processes related to AWS’s growth.

This role will own identifying what PGE can do to innovate in these processes and how we should provide our innovations to have the most benefit for our customers. You’ll be required to learn how our customers operate and what systems they use, while building relationships across multiple business leaders. You will dive deep into problems and draft persuasive working backwards narratives based on your insights. You build big plans that can be delivered over time and divide those plans into approachable milestones. You are an excellent communicator, with experience presenting to senior executives. You can move from one idea to the next as you drive a problem to conclusion and proactively propose new projects with business potential.

This role will balance and weigh trade-offs between longer term product development and short-term, ad-hoc engagements. As a member of a strong team dedicated to this stream of projects, you will collaborate with product and science leaders, and be expected to innovate and solve problems together.

Key job responsibilities

The Sr. Product Manager on this team will be expected to:
• Deeply understand the ongoing engagements, and Develop product and solution requirements, working backwards from the customer.
• Write compelling business cases to articulate investment priorities, future capabilities, and long-term strategic vision.
• Investigate and research the relationship and interactions of multiple technical systems spanning multiple business units.
• Work effectively across AWS with groups such as finance, product management, sales operations, sales, and business development to achieve business goals.
• Champion PGE’s work, capabilities, and products across AWS.

About the team

The AWS Central Economics Pricing and Growth Economics (PGE) team provides expertise and thought leadership to help the AWS business optimize service pricing and some of the most important growth questions. Our work covers both external pricing for customers as well as internal transfer pricing for other teams across Amazon. We assist both with pricing theory to help define the optimal pricing dimensions and econometric analysis to evaluate the impact of pricing change through analysis of historical data or experiments. Our primary engagement partners are senior AWS leadership, service team leadership, service PMs, and AWS Finance teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree

– Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

– Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

– Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

– Experience managing technical products or online services

– Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience in using analytical tools, such as Tableau, Qlikview, QuickSight

– Experience in building and driving adoption of new tools

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
