- The Boeing Company is looking for a F/A-18 Missions Systems Senior Software Engineer to join the F/A-18 Sensors and Data Fusion team located in Berkeley, MO . This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
This role will involve the development of real time embedded software, analyzing and debugging software issues, and working in an Agile, collaborative environment. The selected candidate(s) will have the opportunity to play a key role in the development and maintenance of software in support of some of the newest and most advanced systems and capabilities on the F/A-18 platform.
Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead activities to develop, document and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
- Leads development of code and integrates complex software components into a fully functional software system
- Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
- Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
- Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of software processes, tools and metrics
- Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects
- Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
- Troubleshoots basic software issues
- Tracks and evaluates software team performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans
- Works under minimal direction
- This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
- 5+ years of professional experience with C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada
- 5+ years of experience leading and supporting software development efforts
- Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience developing mission systems software on aircraft platforms
- Software development experience in a collaborative team environment using agile principles and a structured development process including code reviews and automated DevOps processes/tools
- Experience using team collaboration tools including Git, Version One, Jenkins, and Collaborator or similar tools
- Experience as an Agile Product Owner, or Scrum Master
- Experience mentoring
- Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $122,400 – $165,600
