In this role, you will work closely with Amazon’s Last Mile transportation businesses to build strategic initiatives and frameworks that support carrier partners in meeting legal and contractual obligations relating to business practices, driver / provider eligibility, and safety standards. You will be expected to understand laws and regulations applicable to the Last Mile business, assess effectiveness of existing risk and control concepts, and propose innovative mitigation strategies that enable business success. You must clearly and concisely communicate identified findings to senior leadership, and will be responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to design workflows in support of risk-reduction activities. You will set program objectives, assign appropriate metrics that measure success, and drive business changes that reduce risk. You will work collaboratively with business stakeholders, safety, legal, tech, and field operations teams to implement world-class, customer-centric, compliance and risk management solutions.

A day in the life
The Sr. Risk Manager will leverage their knowledge of labor and employment laws, insight into industry regulations and standards, and their experience in risk assessments and regulatory change management to develop mitigation strategies that influence Amazon’s transportation businesses throughout all phases of their lifecycle. The individual will work collaboratively with business stakeholders, legal, finance, tech, and human resource teams to implement world-class, customer-centric, risk-reducing solutions and drive process improvements.
About the team
We provide Amazon’s transportation programs assurance that Amazon and our third-party managed network carriers operate in a manner compliant with highest risk transportation, contractual, legal, regulatory, and policy requirements. We drive adoption and implementation of pragmatic and scalable risk management solutions to facilitate business growth. We protect Amazon’s brand by partnering with internal and external teams to proactively measure leading risk indicators. We shape risk mitigation strategies with informed and data-driven assessments.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• BA or BS in business, economics, operations, accounting, finance, IT, or related field (or 5+ years of equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of experience in risk management, regulatory affairs, audit (internal or external), compliance, internal controls, legal, human resource compliance, labor employment, transportation, or supply chain industry
• 5+ years of experience working with enterprise risk frameworks and conducting risk assessments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of federal, state and local wage regulations
• Experience in program management
• Experience leading risk assessments and defining audit roadmaps.
• Fundamental understanding of regulatory requirements, industry frameworks, and expectations related to operational risk management
• Demonstrable problem-solving, data analytic / analysis competencies using insights to drive tactical business decisions
• CPA, CISA, CIA, CFE, CCEP, PMP certification is a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
