Information Technology (IT) is the unified IT organization that supports the vision, values, mission, and goals of the University by providing IT infrastructure, systems, administrative applications, academic resources, and related services to faculty, students, and staff. Embracing DU’s Impact 2025, the division aligns IT resources with university and unit strategic goals and operational plans, providing service in the spirit of “One DU”. The IT Operations team is responsible for the day-to-day operational support of all university-owned data, voice, and video services. This includes but is not limited to VMware, Windows/Linux Server OS, routers, switches, wireless LAN, and Voice over IP.
Position Summary
The Network Analyst is part of a team that is responsible for the University campus network infrastructure. The Network Analyst assists in designing, implementing, and maintaining the networks by managing network IP addresses, communicating network information and requirements to connect hosts to the network, and installing, upgrading, and maintaining network routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, wireless controllers, other network devices and servers. The Network Analyst utilizes multiple tools to monitor the network to ensure optimum performance and to assist in troubleshooting issues. The Network Analyst works with other Information Services units, faculty, staff, and students in the integration, maintenance, and problem resolution of network services, maintains documentation and database information, and works with Procurement Services in the preparation and evaluation of bid specifications for network hardware and software.
Essential Functions
- Design and implement highly scalable and resilient network infrastructure
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring the integrity, security, and high availability of network services
- Maintain current and thorough knowledge of networking technologies
- Perform network assessments
- Lead and assist in developing technical and user-facing documentation
- Produce usage and inventory reports
- Demonstrate excellent organizational abilities, ability to prioritize and follow up on open issues and projects with a sense of urgency
- Ensure that service delivery and customer satisfaction exceed published service levels and coordinate escalation of issues as required
- Assist the staff responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and support of hardware and software.
- Assists in placing and terminating inter-building and intra-building fiber optic, coaxial, and twisted pair cables. This includes installing, repairing, and locating conduit systems and outdoor telecommunication pedestals
- Responsible for driving the “One DU” culture through values and customer service standards.
- Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers.
- Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
- Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science, information systems, computer engineering, telecommunications, or a related field.
- 1 or more years of IT and/or business/industry work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Analyst level Certifications in Voice, Routing & Switching preferred.
- Requires exposure to multiple, diverse networking technologies
- Experience supporting converged infrastructure
Working Environment
- The work environment is a university with cyclical periods of increased workloads with the possibility of moderate to high-stress levels.
- The unit is one of several working collaboratively and cooperatively in a team-based organization. The position may require working irregular hours including early mornings, weekends, and late evenings.
- The work environment consists of surroundings with moderate noise levels and frequent contact with electrical devices.
Physical Activities
- Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
- Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl under desk/tables to troubleshoot cables and network connections; talk or hear; walk-up flights of stairs.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., however, there may be irregular hours including both weekends and evenings.

The salary grade for the position is 09.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $55,000 – $65,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
