The Sr. Cost Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining capital construction projects, and equipment installs in North America. This candidate will work closely with Construction and Equipment Project Manages, Operations Engineering, Manufacturing Project Management, Operations Engineering, Manufacturing Project Management and other cross-functional teams to ensure the capital project budgets are accurately tracked, monitored, and held within budget goals.
This position is full-time onsite in Newark, CA.
You Will:
- Create, modify, and maintain budget proposals and trackers from project conception to completion
- Ensure trends of project costs and schedule are identified through effective change management process and communicate and suggest corrective actions
- Will bring data-driven analytics with line of sight to project health, risks, and opportunities that influence improved outcomes of our projects and budgets
- Report out budget status to project executives, including monthly reports, cost reporting and forecasting
- Ensure the project management team is providing updated budget and integrate all changes into the master budget tracker
- Gain holistic knowledge of project/program requirements and implement any feedback on timing to better optimize cashflows
- Support the development of conceptual estimates and relevant benchmarking. Perform Deep dive reviews with estimators and project teams, understanding cost drivers. Drive and communicate value/cost justification with leadership
- Collaborate closely with Finance to maintain accurate project forecasts, understand variances, and mitigate financial risks
- Work with program management to integrate budgets across multiple teams
- Coordinate and effectively run meetings to define logic and rectify any discrepancies with budgets
- Standardize Capital Project budget documentation and trackers
- Work with finance and purchasing teams to develop cash flow analysis
- Invoice validation.
- Help identify reimagined business processes as we continue to transform
- Identify project risk and opportunities through transparent analysis in order to drive improvements of project outcomes
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of business development and/ or finance modeling experience
- Experience in the automotive or construction industry is a plus
- Must be detail-oriented and well-organized
- Ability to influence outcomes and drive initiatives in complex environments
- Experience communicating effectively with data-driven storytelling and data-driven insights
- Possesses strong presentation skills and communicates clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company
- Proactive and able to foresee and mitigate risks appropriately
- Well-developed analytical and technical competencies, excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
- Possess knowledge and experience across multiple functions within product design and manufacturing
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
• California (Bay Area) – $115,000-$165,000 per year
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
