Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Learning & Development, the duties of the Management Trainer include but are not limited to:
1. Facilitate a variety of courses, including but not limited to classes concentrating on NYCHA standards and procedures, management and supervisory development, new employee orientation, and general power skills training such as Time and Stress Management.
2. Conduct needs analyses for field and Central Office training (e.g., creating and distributing surveys and/or conducting focus groups).
3. Consult with NYCHA departments to improve performance.
4. Schedule training classes.
5. Keep abreast of all NYCHA policies and procedures.
6. Revise and updating training programs in the capacity of lead trainer for assigned programs.
7. Design and writing training manuals and materials, including trainer’s guides.
8. Produce online training courses.
9. Create PowerPoint presentations.
10. Assist in the production of training materials.
11. Take part in special projects as necessary.
12. Perform related administrative support.

NOTE: The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) administered a civil service exam for the Housing Manager title on 02/07/23. Minimum Qual Requirements
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and three years of full-time satisfactory supervisory and/or administrative experience in housing management at a development or developments containing at least 150 apartments, including overseeing the performance of duties such as: interviewing applicants, determining eligibility; gathering and evaluating information to resolve complaints; collecting rents; and/or resolving tenant related problems; or
2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, and six years of the full-time satisfactory experience as described in “1” above; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience as described in “1” or “2” above. Undergraduate college credits may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of full-time satisfactory experience. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
Preferred Skills
1. Experience in training and presentation.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
3. Excellent analytic ability in training and curriculum development.
4. Knowledge of group dynamics.
5. Good interpersonal and organizational skills
6. Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft applications.
Qualification Preferred
Minimum of three years of experience in a field location as a permanent (civil service) Housing Manager.
