Position: Principal Data Scientist – Operations Research
Job Location: 10500 NE 8th Street (13th floor), Bellevue, WA 98004
Duties: Develop mathematical optimization-based decision support systems for increasing efficiency of business operations. Formulate mathematical models of business operations related to constants, variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives, and their numerical parameters. Collect, organize, and analyze information from a variety of sources, such as databases, sales histories, customer feedback, co-workers, and subject-matter experts. Formulate alternative mathematical models and investigate which one will offer the best outcomes. Develop and evaluate alternative algorithms for solving the formulated mathematical models. Prepare reports and presentations to define and evaluate problems and recommend solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders and partner teams to ensure the successful implementation of chosen problem solutions. Educate staff in the use of mathematical models. Define, track, and analyze key metrics on the implemented solutions to continuously improve implemented solutions.
Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), or related field and 5 years of experience in an analytics related field.
Skills required: Experience with optimization methods including LP, MIP, and QP. Experience using one of the following commercial solvers: CPLEX, Gurobi, or XPRESS. Experience with computer programming using one of the following object-oriented programming languages: Python, Java, C#, or C++. Experience implementing optimization and simulation models and tools through a high-level modeling language. Experience designing and carrying out experiments to evaluate performance of proposed changes to existing processes/systems. Experience with statistical data analysis using one of the following computational tools: SQL, R, or Python. Experience writing technical documents for proposing new research projects, describing methods used, and reporting results. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: The annual salary range for this full-time position is $184,000/year to $260,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
