Position Summary
Maintain assigned Senior Affairs stand-alone meal site facility; serve meals to seniors; adhere to applicable federal, state and local government food regulations; coordinate, plan and schedule recreational and educational activities for assigned meal site within the Department of Senior Affairs; assist in the implementation of program goals and objectives and perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Associate’s degree in recreation or gerontology; and
Three (3) years of coordination experience in any of the following areas:
- senior services
- food service
- community recreation activities; and
To include one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Possession of a valid C.P.R. and First Aid certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
- Basic operations, services and activities of a community, senior or meal site recreation program
- Principles and practices food preparation and sanitation
- Recent developments, current literature and information related senior or community recreation services
- Methods and techniques of working with senior citizens
- Principles and practices of record keeping and cash handling
- Methods and techniques of placement, recruitment and training of volunteers
- Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and safety regulations.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Coordinate and plan recreational programs and activities
- Develop and maintain a calendar of activities
- Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
- Communicate clearly and concisely
- Assist with implementing senior programs
- Operate office equipment including computers
- Work independently in the absence of supervision
- Encourage and maintain the participation of individuals in on-going programs
- Provide information and assistance to seniors regarding programs, services and activities
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including the general public
