Engineering Maintenance Technician, Plant Operations

The Role
As a Tesla Engineering Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational availability of a wide array of Utility equipment. You will apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics. You will work with the highest caliber plant operations engineering teams to improve equipment reliability, minimize downtime and eliminate wasteful spending.
Tesla’s Plant Operations is the first-responding problem solvers who manage critical factory systems to keep production running. This is a physically demanding job working in tight spaces, requiring walking and standing all day, as well as, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing ladders and lying on the ground intermittently throughout the day. In addition, the technician may wear a fall protection harness while working from heights or from a suspended position. Maintenance Technicians will lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize specialized tools that require the user to listen and comprehend. Additionally, technicians will use varying hand and power tools as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support Engineering with Installation, integration and observation of Vibration, flow and pressure monitoring systems,
  • Assist system owners with modification of existing assets for condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
  • Utilize specialized instruments to identify energy waste and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Corrective Maintenance teams on more than one of these types of equipment:
  • Electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase
  • Mechanical systems ranging from pumps, compressors, fans, turbines. – Hydraulics, Pneumatics, PLC and networks, Robotics
  • Requisition parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms as needed.
  • Log all work as performed and communicate with engineering while in the field.
  • Perform other tasks as instructed by management.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of identity and employment eligibility will be required.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in a maintenance capacity on production manufacturing equipment and/or have equivalent training or relevant education
  • Verbal and written communication skills (able to understand and record maintenance procedures, shift pass downs, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical & piping drawings and accurately measure and inspect in the field
  • Advanced computer skills (able to use job-specific PC applications and coach other users)
  • Solid electrical knowledge (has a thorough understanding of electrical requirements and hazards)
  • Advanced skills with a voltmeter to check AC/DC voltage, able to diagnose issues, able to use a schematic diagram to troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Proficient with pneumatics-solenoid valves, actuator and control operations and can read schematics
  • Proficient with basic hydraulic system operations
  • Ability to analyze problems and error conditions, identify root causes, and implement viable long-term solutions
  • Safety oriented
  • Ability to work off-shifts, as needed
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal.

      $22.00 – $60.00/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
