Position Summary
The Information Representative is responsible for providing communications support to the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and its units by creating content for print, digital, and other media. This position will collaborate with CAS Deans, unit leaders and campus stakeholders to assess, develop and execute communications strategies and tactics that support the priorities and initiatives of CAS, while also serving unit needs and positioning the division to succeed and thrive. This position works closely with and reports to the Sr. Director of Communications for CAS, collaborating to direct communications strategy and provide proactive communications planning and counsel to CAS leadership.
The Information Representative provides project management support by organizing, managing, and executing communication plans and projects for the Dean’s office and CAS units. This includes writing print and digital content, web content management, ecommunications, supporting design, video, and photography projects, and communications assessments. The Information Representative will assist with confidential internal communications related to employee contract negotiations, proposals, and strategies. This work regularly requires independent judgment, confidentiality, and ability to build an in-depth knowledge of the University of Oregon, its programs, personnel, and current issues.
The position may supervise student employees and/or graduate employees.
Minimum Requirements
• Three years of experience as a public relations representative for an organization which involved gathering information, writing and/or producing materials, presenting information to the public, handling public relations, preparing press releases, and interaction with the news media. At least one year of this experience must have involved participating in planning and administering an organization’s public relations program.
A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a closely-related field may substitute for up to two years of the general experience but will not substitute for the one year of specialized experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in higher education.
• Experience with digital content strategy, information architecture, and analytics.
• Experience with Drupal, WordPress, or other content management systems.
• Experience with internal and executive communications.
