Summary
Monitors, operates, installs, and maintains local, off-site and/or remote locations of telephone switching and related equipment.
Essential Functions
- Attend and complete installation and maintenance training for Cisco telephone equipment;
- Evaluate, test and repair Cisco and Avaya equipment.
- Update software and perform preventive maintenance to switching and all other telephone equipment;
- Maintain equipment and connections to all telephone lines such as T1s, Integrated Synchronous Data Networks, Sip Trunks and Plexar lines;
- Manage updates and repairs on the Cisco/Avaya Voice Messaging System;
- Maintain automated call distribution and Interralia recording equipment;
- Be on-call with pager for critical system repair after normal business hours;
- Attend training sessions and meetings as needed;
- Working knowledge of data networks;
- Perform related duties as directed.
Qualifications
Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional six years’ experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of telecommunication equipment including Cisco/ Avaya and Blueworks IVR equipment; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:
Valid Current Driver’s License

Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Cisco/Avaya equipment: Cisco UCM, Voicemail and Avaya G430;
- All telephone lines such as T1s, ISDNs, Sip Trunks and Plexar lines;
- Cisco and Avaya Voice Messaging System;
- ACDs and Interralia recording equipment;
- Working knowledge of Integrated Voice Reconnection system.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively with others;
- Evaluate, test and repair Cisco equipment: Cisco UCM, Cisco Voicemail, Avaya G430, and Blueworks IVR;
- Perform updates and preventive maintenance to switching equipment and all other telephone equipment;
- Maintain equipment and connections to all telephone lines such as T1s, ISDN, and Plexar lines;
- Manage updates and repairs on the other Telecom systems;
- Maintain ACDs and Interralia recording equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently walk and standing during the shift;
- Frequently bend and kneel during the shift;
- Continuously carry up to 25 pounds and frequently carry up to 50 pounds;
- Push and pull objects;
- Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees;
- Occasionally rotate upper trunk forward to the left or right while sitting or standing;
- Place arms above, at, or below shoulder height;
- Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
