- The ideal candidate will be able to work with faculty either 1:1 or in small groups to provide coaching and guidance in using educational technology tools.
- The ideal candidate will be familiar with classroom instruction, use of classroom AV, teaching software, and best practices in the use of educational technology to support the teaching and learning experience.
- We are looking for candidates who have excellent communication skills, experience teaching and/or instructional coaching, and are able to bridge instruction with technology so the faculty can have a successful teaching experience in the classroom.
Position / Job Summary
Provide support for faculty with integrating technology into teaching and learning and identify appropriate tools to support instruction. Provide consultation in pedagogy, instructional design, and course development related to courses, modules, and whole curriculum activities for traditional, online, and hybrid course projects. Provide training and support to faculty including best practices in the use of AV technologies. Collaborate with campus partners and IT staff to evaluate classroom design. Share best practices and participate in designing academic courses or course elements within a diverse and inclusive community. Participate in cross-campus collaboration with professionals who also support the academic work of faculty and students.
Supervision
This position reports to the Director of Instructional Design & Educational Technology. This position may be responsible for the supervision of student employees.
Position/Job Responsibilities
- Consult with faculty in groups and individually to share best practices and introduce methods where learning technology can assist in achieving learning outcomes. This includes supporting faculty throughout the course cycle by adopting and using learning technologies according to quality standards.
- Work positively and collaboratively with faculty to improve student learning using instructional design principles to include assessment of teaching practices and technological needs maintaining faculty progress through benchmarking standards and the design and development of both appropriate instructional materials.
- Design, develop, and deliver training materials for faculty and staff, in various formats and delivery modes.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement instructional tools, new and emerging technologies, and best practices that enhance student learning outcomes and improve teaching and learning.
- Design, develop, and deliver learning solutions throughout the spectrum of in-person to online course modalities; implement a variety of educational technologies in the delivery of meaningful learning experiences.
- Work with faculty to use data-informed instruction to employ proven instructional design models that will facilitate the transfer of knowledge skills and attitudes to the learner.
- Support faculty in best practices of classroom instruction using installed AV equipment; collaborate with college partners to evaluate current classroom hardware needs and provide recommendations for improvements based on sound pedagogical practices.
- Remain current with trends, research, and best practices in technology, e-learning, higher education, learning theory, and instructional design theory.
- Develop and demonstrate multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive diverse and respectful college community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff faculty students and visitors to the college. Promote a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
- Participate in and lead IT projects as assigned. Coordinate planning, research, and implementation efforts with IT staff and the user community. Use established IT project management protocols. Develop project plans and documentation.
- Participate in committees and working groups as assigned and where appropriate.
Position Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, education, instructional/curriculum design, or related field and a minimum of 2 years experience working closely with faculty to design across course modalities. Demonstrated expertise with learning management systems, instructional design, and learning theories. In-depth knowledge and application of learning and instructional design theories are required. Experience of best practices in classroom instruction and classroom design to support the teaching and learning experience desired.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field preferred. Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment. Demonstrated creativity, skill, and experience in designing instruction that engages students in an active learning experience. Ability to apply instructional design models and principles to meet goals and or objectives; familiarity with designing courses that are accessible according to ADA and Section 508 compliance. Canvas Certified Educator, experience in facilitation, training, teaching, using universal design for learning, classroom assessment, and consultation within a higher education academic environment are preferred.
Special Note
This role requires the employee to work mostly in person for at least 80% of the workweek, located at the Ithaca College campus in Ithaca, NY.
PAY RANGE: $58,000 – $65,000
