Salary Pay Range: $75,000-$85,000 Per Year. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Underwriter to join our team in the Los Angeles office. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in underwriting commercial auto liability, physical damage, cargo, and general liability coverage.
Position Overview:
As a Senior Underwriter at Knight Insurance Group, you will play a pivotal role in underwriting accounts for commercial auto liability coverage, commercial auto physical damage coverage, commercial auto cargo, and general liability. Additionally, you will be responsible for auditing policies, contributing to the development of our policy system, and assisting with the issuance and servicing of policies and endorsements. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience, preferably in commercial auto insurance, who can bring expertise and innovation to our team.
What you’ll do as a Senior Underwriter:
- Underwrite commercial auto liability, commercial auto physical damage, commercial auto cargo, and general liability policies, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and risk assessment.
- Conduct policy audits to verify accuracy and compliance with established standards.
- Collaborate with the team to build and refine our policy system, streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency.
- Assist in the issuance and servicing of policies and endorsements, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
- Evaluate and analyze underwriting data, market trends, and competitor offerings to make informed decisions.
- Maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers, providing guidance and support in underwriting matters.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
- Collect and review applications from prospective policyholders, ensuring all required information is provided.
- Generate the policy documents, including the policy declarations page, terms and conditions, and any endorsements or riders.
- Assist the policyholder in selecting appropriate coverage options, such as liability, comprehensive, collision, and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
- Process any policy endorsements or changes requested by the policyholder, such as adding or removing vehicles or drivers.
- Set up billing arrangements and process premium payments from the policyholder.
- Issue the finalized policy documents to the policyholder once all requirements are met and payment is received.
- Verify the accuracy of information provided by the policyholder, such as vehicle details, driver information, and coverage selections.
- Ensure that the policy complies with all state and federal insurance regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications
What we look for in our Senior Underwriter?
- Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience, with a preference for candidates with experience in commercial auto insurance.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of underwriting principles, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
