Under the general direction of the Database Administrator, the Senior Systems Analyst for Academic Systems will be the primary technical owner and project manager for the University’s student information system and related academic systems. Senior Systems Analysts act as “business partners” to their assigned group providing a bridge between business and technical expertise. As compared to a Systems Analyst (level 1), the Senior Systems Analyst is expected to be a technical and business expert for their assigned internal customer group. Senior System Analysts will lead projects, demonstrate expert level of expertise regarding the student academic, enrollment and financial aid life cycle. The Senior Systems Analyst will work across administrative departments to ensure business processes are documented and enhanced through the use of digital technology. The position will drive requirements management by working with stakeholders to assess, document, and differentiate business requirements that help realize technology innovation and business value. The Senior Systems Analyst will work with the Data Systems Manager to integrate technical systems using scripts, programming languages and technical tools.

Academic Systems
• Act as a subject matter expert on existing academic systems
• Provides advanced technical support for maintaining the University’s academic systems (Ellucian PowerCampus, College Board PowerFaid, Ellucian Recruit CRM and Slate). Supports all end-user functions and activities including maintenance, upgrades, testing, validation, and quality assurance.
• Lead administration and management of business partners systems and processes.

System Analysis
• Perform data mapping for new implementation conversions.
• Support and act as a subject matter expert and technical resource for system integration of diverse technical systems using tools such Single Sign on and Tools4ever NIM (account provisioning, data mapping, etc).
• Document SOP’s and train on proper workflows.
• Ensure data integrity by conducting ongoing data analysis and maintenance.
• Meet with cross functional groups such as the Registrar, Financial Aid, Enrollment, and other business units to capture requirements or document and recommend improvement to processes that will enable optimal business efficiency and technical automation as appropriate.
• Manage projects related to system implementations.

Development
• Assists in the development of scripts and integrations using Python.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
• Regionally accredited bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science or related field required; and/or equivalent of combined education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience supporting a student information system, preferably Ellucian Power Campus.
• Professional experience and expertise in programming and scripting languages (Python and SQL)

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILLS:
• Self-motivated individual who possesses both technical and business acumen to drive technological improvements across the University.
• Expert knowledge of student academic, enrollment and financial aid life cycle
• Knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio/SQL server 2005 forward, Visual Studio IDE 2005 forward; SQL Server Reporting Services (2005, 2008 R2), SQL Server Integrations Services and Transact-SQL; Microsoft Office Suite, VBA.
• Expert knowledge with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or similar report generation tools.
• Excellent analytical, technical, and planning skills; and ability to communicate to users with all levels of experience.
• Strong preference with /Ellucian PowerCampus and PowerFAIDS.

• The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.

  • Salary Range: $125,000-$140,000
