SummaryAs the Director of Data Center Building Management Systems (BMS) you will be focused on the development of the global design and engineering strategies and standards that are the basis of our global data center program. You bring a holistic knowledge of data center systems that goes beyond your discipline and enables integrated & efficient solutions. You’re an expert at managing competing priorities to focus on what is necessary for the success of our program and project objectives. You will be responsible for the development of Building Management System, including Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS), design strategies that enable our global program to bring our capacity to market safely, quickly, and with high quality. With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards and serve as an expert in your area. You’re a valuable contributor to the development of our data center design roadmap, collaborating with our other discipline leads, to position us for success now and into the future.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the BMS / EPMS design and engineering strategies and standards, in alignment with the company’s overall business objectives, that are the basis of our global program.
  • Direct the development of our BMS / EPMS strategic roadmap. Knowledge of new technologies and the evaluation to determine their value in support of our operations and customers’ future needs, our business objectives and the development of strategies for implementation into our program seamlessly.
  • Provide guidance and thought leadership on BMS trends, technologies, and best practices. Stay up-to-date with advancements in data center technologies, and recommend new technologies to improve the reliability and efficiency of our data center infrastructure.
  • Consultant and Vendor Management: Develop and lead the Global consultant and vendor relationships that support our program and projects. In collaboration with regional teams, review and approve the recommendations for the consultant and vendor selections for our projects. Cultivate strong relationships with consultants and vendors to ensure timely delivery of quality solutions and services.
  • Provide leadership and direction to regional teams in support of implementing (“localizing”) BMS / EPMS design strategies in our regions across the globe.
  • Evaluate customer requirements / requests for proposals and provide the technical responses and documentation. Interface with customers directly to understand requirements, look at options and develop solutions.
  • In collaboration with Operations: Establish and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for BMS systems to ensure uninterrupted data center operations. Establish performance metrics and analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Establish processes and procedures to promptly address and resolve BMS-related issues and anomalies.
  • In collaboration with Operations and ESG leaders: Identify and drive initiatives, to optimize energy usage, reduce water consumptions, reduce carbon footprint, and enhance sustainability across all data centers.
  • Develop and manage the BMS budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of resources to support our global program.

Skills & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field.
  • 10 years of progressive experience in data center BMS & EPMS building management systems, data center operations, or a closely related field.
  • Strong technical expertise in BMS / EPMS design, integration, and operation.
  • In-depth knowledge of energy management, sustainability practices, and industry standards.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead, inspire, and mentor a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Program & Project management experience with the ability to lead a Global Program and support regional project team on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with industry software tools and platforms related to BMS.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support global projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 15 years of progressive experience in data center BMS & EPMS building management systems, data center operations, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with high-density data centers and hyperscale customer requirements to support AI/ML environments.
  • Experience with prefabrication/modular construction and manufacturing techniques.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and continuously developing environment

  • Self-starter with superior analytical skills; a problem solver with an astute attention to detail
  • Possesses good judgment, honesty, and utmost integrity

Actual compensation offered will be finalized at offer and may be above the posted range due to skill level, experience, industry specific knowledge, education/certifications, or geographic location. The offer represents the components of our total package.
