Technical Program Manager, SPEAR OS2

The Amazon Security Special Programs, Evaluations, Assessments, & Response (SPEAR) team is scaling to support the continuous growth of Amazon facilities and associated security functions. SPEAR is responsible for owning physical standards and for conducting deep-dive level examinations, consultations of outfitted physical, technical, and wireless security within Amazon facilities. The Operations Support & Services (OS2) team is a vertical within SPEAR, and serves as a force multiplier to the organization, driving operational excellence through continuous improvement and optimization of business processes and systems.

We are seeking a proven Technical Program Manager (TPM) to manage the lifecycle of complex, cross-functional programs with considerable impact to challenging business goals. This role owns and manages the roadmap and execution of solutions for various value streams. The TPM is versed in the overall operating rhythm and partners with the business to identify strategic initiatives to reduce risk, eliminate excess process and create predictable process paths, improve resource utilization, and drive accountability. The TPM understands risks caused by technical complexity and is able to identify dependencies, mitigate blockers, drive simplification, reduce technical debt, and promote Hands-off-the-Wheel (HOTW) practices. A successful candidate is a leader able to thrive in ambiguity, and remains fearless to solve hard, complex technical problems. They will possess strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively align leaders across SPEAR and Amazon Security on our status and strategy. Key job responsibilities

– Influence, manage, and help execute the DnA roadmap

– Own, drive, and automate SPEAR business operations programs, including budget, headcount, and finance related activities

– Create mechanisms to track project execution and health

– Partner with customers to define business requirements, functional requirements, and success criteria

– Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and automation

– Drive root cause analysis

– Report on the health of our services at an executive level

– Communicate announcements regarding new processes and enhancements to customers

– Work and deliver end-to-end projects independently

As this role supports the AWS GovCloud region, it will be restricted to Amazon employees who are U.S. Citizens. GovCloud may not be accessed from outside of the United States.

The position requires international travel amounting to approximately 20% to ensure the delivery of this team’s mission.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

– 4+ years of technical product or program management experience

– 4+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

– Experience with roadmap strategy and definition

– Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design

– Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps

– Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

– Experience with business intelligence analytics, reporting, visualization tools, and methods (e.g, AWS QuickSight, Tableau, PowerBI)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– 3+ years of software development experience

– 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

– Experience leading and managing cloud software services and have an understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $101,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
