Description

This is a part-time, non-exempt 8-week seasonal position working a minimum of 15 hours per week.

The Costume Stitcher/Wardrobe is responsible for assisting the Costume Designer and Costume Coordinator with the execution of all costumes for all Theatrical productions including: NTCC, NTYA, Summer Drama Workshops, Bright Star Theatre, NTCM and NTJC. Demonstrates commitment to the Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of the District.

Essential Job Functions
• Assists with costume construction for productions
• Assists with actor fittings and measurements
• Assist and execute strike plans
• Clean, iron or other preparations of costumes and accessories
• Assists with stitching and crafts for all productions
• May work backstage during tech/dress rehearsals to assist the actors with costumes and coordinate quick changes and ensures all costume pieces are returned and prepped for the next performance
• Actively supervises children backstage and in the green room during rehearsals and productions.
• Makes any necessary repairs to costumes during the run of the show and informs the Costume Coordinator of any alterations or concerns.
• Creates labeling for costumes and accessories
• Assists with the daily maintenance of the costume shop and costume storage

Other job functions:
• Communicates any scheduling conflicts to the Costume Coordinator so that all rehearsal and performance duties will be covered.
• Performs all job tasks in a safe manner according to the established procedures and guidelines set forth in the Park District’s personnel and safety manuals.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties listed above.

Starting Rate is $15.00/hour+ depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

Knowledge required:
• Plan, cut, sew and pattern costumes
• Organization of costume and accessory storage
• Organization and planning of costume changes during performance
• Alteration and repair of costumes
• Costume design techniques

Ability/skills required
• Work independently and efficiently
• Must work well with youth, professional and community actors
• Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with all members of the production team
• Strong organizational skills
• Maintain satisfactory working relationship with Park District personnel and the general public

Necessary Special Requirements:
• Evidence of professional costume and wardrobe experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
