The University of Virginia Darden School of Business seeks a part-time Sales Account Manager to join its Darden Business Publishing (DBP) team. The Sales Account Manager reports to the Associate Director for Sales and Marketing and is responsible for achieving aggressive sales goals of Darden products. Primary customers are faculty members teaching in graduate and undergraduate business programs throughout North America. The Sales Account Manager coordinates with the sales and marketing team to achieve sales goals, increases DBP customer base, and builds brand loyalty to Darden cases. The Sales Account Manager reports on market trends, competition, and customer feedback, and is expected to stay in contact with our key accounts by phone and e-mail.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
Revenue Growth and Budget
- Achieve established revenue goals
- Grow customer base by retaining existing customers and adding new customers
- Maintain constant contact with key customers
- Manage expenses to meet budget
Reporting
- Maintain timely, accurate, and complete records of account contacts on CRM database
- Submit weekly sales call activity report to Associate Director for Sales and Marketing
- Provide customer feedback on products, opportunities, competitors
- Advise sales and marketing team on all sales and marketing matters
- Submit timely report of all travel expenses
Market Planning, Customer Expertise, and Product Knowledge
- Submit annual sales plan
- Maintain knowledge of customers at key accounts, and develop new customers
- Develop knowledge of business school curriculum, especially the standard MBA core curriculum
- Develop campaigns and tactics to achieve sales goals
- Develop full understanding of best-selling and recently published products
Systems
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate customer records in customer database
Monitor sales reports and address any reporting issues - Aggregate data from multiple sales reports from varied sources into an effective and highly targeted sales strategy with focus on highest potential prospects
Other Duties
- Provide backup support for Sales and Marketing team as needed
- Act as ambassador for Darden Business School to promote school’s reputation
- Other duties as assigned
Professional experience and education:
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of successful sales experience required
- Ability to set goals and to work independently to achieve them
- Ability to work independently, creatively and collaboratively
- Comfortable and skilled with needs-based telephone sales and e-mail promotions
- Ability to develop and maintain long-lasting relationships with key decision makers
- Displays high detail-orientation
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication abilities
- Ability to work well within a team
- Working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management software, Internet communications software, and Microsoft Office applications including, Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Experience in educational publishing preferred
Anticipated hourly rate: $35.00 – $40.00
Occasional travel is required
