Position Overview:
As the Senior Mechanical R&D Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our neuromodulation technology and product offerings at Boston Scientific. We help create great products for our patients, physicians and our colleagues who serve them. We do this with a team of data scientists, designers, and researchers. Our team creates a range of products from Implantable Leads, Surgical Tools, Accessories and Radio-Frequency (RF) Ablation devices.
- Lead the design, development, and prototyping of neuromodulation medical devices from concept to commercialization.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of design documentation, including specifications, test protocols, and reports.
- Lead/Participate in verification and validation activities to ensure products meet regulatory and quality standards.
- Works with physicians, sales, marketing, plus other functional areas to understand and document translated customer needs into requirement specifications.
- Successfully garners necessary project support (internal resources such as manufacturing engineers and technicians; external resources such as test labs).
- Works to seek approval for viable products or product enhancements that meet or exceed customer needs.
- Drive the integration of cutting-edge technologies into device designs to enhance therapeutic outcomes and patient comfort.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in neuromodulation and medical devices.
- Creatively works to develop products with the highest quality and reliability possible.
- Seeks discovery and development of new technologies or product lines.
- Recommends ideas for patent protection/coverage.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. Master’s is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical device R&D. Experience working on neuromodulation technologies is a plus.
- Strong background in the design and development of implantable medical devices.
- Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and simulation of complex systems. Solidworks preferred.
- Experience with materials selection, biocompatibility, and sterilization processes for implantable devices.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards such as ISO 13485 and FDA regulations for medical devices.
- Proven track record of leading successful cross-functional teams and managing projects from concept to commercialization is highly preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of design documentation, including specifications, test protocols, and reports.
The anticipated annualized base pay range this full-time position working at this location will be from $81,900 to $155,600 plus variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements) and the value of core and optional employee benefits being offered at Boston Scientific (BSC), which can be reviewed at www.bscbenefitsconnect.com. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. BSC considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, and other relevant business or organizational needs. Actual compensation may be otherwise adjusted if the position is filled outside of the intended geographic location.
