Shopping design is looking for a design leader who can provide significant impact on the Amazon shopping experience, by scaling through others and making high-volume design decisions.
As a Sr. Manager for the Shopping Design System (Rio), you are responsible for defining design standards for the global Amazon shopping experience. The foundations, components, and patterns that you and your team establish will be leveraged by hundreds of teams across Amazon to deliver a more cohesive and lovable shopping experience for customers and increase builder efficiency. The Rio Design System team is part of the central design organization (Shopping Design) which designs and delivers the Amazon shopping experience. Collectively, we build features that enable the customer’s shopping journey from discovery, product evaluation, and purchase.
You and your design system team are responsible for:
* Defining the visual styles and usage guidelines for common UX patterns across the shopping experience.
* Driving adoption of the design system through support mechanisms and tools, such as Figma libraries, documentation, intake processes, and office hours.
* Developing feedback loops with partner teams to proactively identify common UX patterns, experiment, extrapolate learnings, and build those learnings back into the design system.
* Influencing and consulting dozens of design, product, and engineering teams to encourage and enforce design system adoption.
* Earning trust with senior leaders across all Shopping organizations in order to influence design system adoption and gain top down support.
* Prioritizing inclusive and accessible designs for all customers as core elements to the design system.
The idea candidate will have:
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and presentation expertise.
* Ability to simultaneously earn trust of partners and hold a high bar for UX and CX decisions.
* High judgement when making strategic design and product decisions; balancing the desire to maintain a consistent user experience and opportunities to innovate, test, and learn.
* Growth mindset to proactively identify opportunities to improve the design system, influence others, and deliver results.
* Excellent organizational skills to develop and manage a growing roadmap for the global shopping design system.
* Trusted people manager to lead a growing team of experienced designers in a high-velocity/high-volume work environment.
* Proficient with technology and tools to support design system adoption.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 10+ years of design experience
– 5+ years of leading multi-discipline Design teams (ie. visual design, interaction design, user research, etc.) experience
– Experience managing teams
– Experience leading a diverse team in the delivery of experiences from end to end (user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity visuals)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior leaders outside of design
– Experience embedding design within product teams for agile design and development collaboration

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $268,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
