If so, the Prince William County, Department of Social Services, Family Support and Services Division, is seeking to hire a qualified applicant for Human Services Caseworker position on the Foster Care team. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance your leadership and decision-making skills. The staff we seek will work with youth who are in foster care, their caregivers, their families and other community partners interested in their welfare. The goal will be to create stable home environments in order to reunite children with their families. When that is not possible, the Foster Care staff work with youth, including those who are aging out of the system, to promote self-sufficiency and independence.

ABOUT THIS ROLE:
The ideal Human Services Caseworker candidates will have previous experience working with youth in foster care, foster parents and/or families in crisis. He or she will have knowledge of federal, state and local policies and procedures related to child welfare; experience teaching independence and life skills to youth and documenting case records in a web-based system (e.g. OASIS). All team members must be able to: Apply policies and procedures and make independent decisions, including when handling crisis situations. In addition, they must be able to: prepare case documentation and make case presentations, create and prepare court documents, testify about cases in court and work closely with county attorneys and other partners to achieve the best possible outcome for each child in their care.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in the human services field; or bachelor’s degree in any field accompanied by a minimum of two years appropriate and related experience in a human services related area.
PREFERENCES:
Previous experience working in child welfare or foster care; crisis intervention with clients, knowledge of federal, state and local child welfare policies and practices; and Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English).
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS:
37.5 hours per week. This position requires workers to work after hours as needed and have the flexibility to work some weekends.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
*All DSS staff members are required to provide emergency human services work in the event of an emergency or community disaster. Human Services Caseworkers may be required to periodically provide 24-hour emergency duty for the agency, which could include responding to crisis situations. Note: We are currently hiring for foster care positions, but may consider candidates for future Human Services Caseworker positions on other teams.
ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $69,186.00 – $95,579.50 Annually
