Definition
The Parks & Recreation Department is currently recruiting for multiple part-time Field Maintenance Workers to assist the Sports Division.

Under general supervision, the Field Maintenance Worker of the Parks & Recreation Department – Sports Division will perform a variety of routine manual tasks, primarily grooming, and marking athletics fields for use in games and practices.

Location:
This position location can vary but is based at the Andy Morin Sports Complex.

Schedule

  • Duration: position is ongoing as long as needed and supported by the budget. Budget is currently available through July 2024.
  • Flexible and scheduled as needed, generally through July 2024.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Pay & Benefits

  • Non-exempt
  • Part-time positions are hourly and not eligible for benefits, and are limited to working 999 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). No full-time regular appointment will be made from this class.

Note: Unfortunately current active CalPERS members are ineligible for employment with part-time positions.
Examples of Essential Duties

  • Groom and maintain various athletics fields for daily use
  • Water, drag, and apply appropriate field markings and general cleaning of facility areas
  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma, G.E.D. or work permit.

Qualifications:Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire date.

License, Certificate, Registration Requirements:Some positions may require possession of, or the ability to obtain and retain, a California Class C driver license by the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Physical Requirements:
Frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Perform repetitive hand, arm, and body movement on a continuous basis. Frequent public and coworker contact, occasional working alone.

Persons in this class are subject to a background check, which requires DOJ fingerprint clearance.

Schedule is limited to no more than 999 hours per fiscal year. Temporary, hourly positions are not eligible for benefits.
