Our client is seeking a Family Court Assistance Program Specialist (FCAP).

Job Description:
- Therapeutic care and sensitive management of the special needs of children and youth in care; when necessary, appropriate crisis intervention consistent with training guidelines (e.g., from Therapeutic Crisis intervention, appropriate use of Life Space Interview procedures, alternatives to restraint, and use of appropriate restraint techniques).
- Accountability for orderly management and safety of the FCAP daily living routines, individual youth, groups, and therapeutic programs.
- Use of self to model appropriate behaviors (e.g., respect for others, appropriate dress, appropriate conflict resolution, etc.).
- Promoting and utilizing culturally sensitive care and treatment of children, families, and co-workers. Actively working to reduce bias and promote cultural sensitivity. Refer to CV Value.
- Understanding and working toward agency and unit goals and objectives.
- Working in conjunction with school to create a therapeutic learning environment in FCAP.
- Implementation of the principles and practices described in Safe and Sound: Preventing Child Abuse in Out-of-Home Care.
- Preparing and accompanying children to their assigned programs outside FCAP.
- Completing all necessary documentation in regard to residents and program management.
- Using differential approaches to form relationships in order to meet client’s individual and group needs.
- Coordinate and facilitate recreational activities.
- Understanding and using all behavior management tools and all other necessary written communication.
- Preparing and supervising meals in accordance with menu, including using oneself to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of food and mealtimes in creating a nurturing and therapeutic environment (e.g., eating with children and teaching socialization skills during mealtime).
- Using life space process, conflict management techniques, and other forms of behavioral interventions with individuals and groups, to avoid and resolve crises as well as to teach alternatives to violence.
- Implement counseling techniques to youth.
- Intra-agency committee assignments and program planning as assigned by Program Service Manager or Unit Supervisor.
Position Overview:
- The Family Court Assistance Program Specialist is expected to continue to improve, enlarge and competently use the skills practiced as a Family Court Assistance Program Specialist. The Family Court Assistance Program Specialist is expected to initiate therapeutic programs as well as provide leadership for the youth in the program.
Position Qualifications:
- A high School diploma or GED equivalency is required.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
- Good written & verbal skills.
- Has demonstrated the ability to care for children and youth in a nurturing and therapeutic manner.
- Ability to demonstrate counseling techniques
- Ability to read, write and converse in English.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, families, service providers and others.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under stress.
- Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, and/or prolonged sitting/standing.
- Ability to respond to telephones and other auditory stimulation.
- Quantitative/mathematical ability (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, standard measurements).
- Ability to organize.
- Ability to evaluate/interpret information and make independent judgments/decisions.
Salary: $40,558 – $46,642
