What you’ll do…
As a part of Walmart’s Product Organization, you’ll be part of the team that creates the digital products, services and platforms that help millions of customers save money and live better and equip 1.3 million associates with the tools that empower them to do their jobs, effortlessly. Here, you’ll apply best in class technology like machine learning, augmented reality and camera vision, to make the complex, simple; the unimaginable, doable; the futuristic, realistic.

AI Engineers: Architect, research and engineer spatial cognition for autonomous checkout in large scale stores. Specifically,

  • Action recognition for automated cart creation
  • Spatial analytics for understanding shopper behavior and interactions with the skus in a large scale store
  • Multi-view 3D human tracking in crowded scenes
  • Human pose estimation in crowded indoor environments
  • Multi-camera calibration using feature descriptors and operationalization of processes
  • 3D mapping and semantic labeling of spaces for automated checkout
  • MLOps and improving efficiency of various aspects in the ML model life cycle

Lead engineering architecture and management for the mapping, driving research and development for the pre-install and install phases of auto checkout, specifically the Camera Calibration & Placement, Store Layout, and Install Tooling functions. Directed projects to scale autonomous checkout capabilities for large scale stores, achieving significant OPEX reductions using cutting-edge computer vision techniques.Drive designing and implementing the camera placement and calibration strategy, for autonomous retail solutions including development of a robust computer vision platform in OpenCV and PyTorch.Own multiple cross team and cross functional programs for cost reduction, scaling and for improving software and machine learning model maintenance practices and MLOps

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Developing and enhancing products – you will manage product roadmaps, align business and technical needs, analyze customer and product data, turn customer insights into actionable initiatives, determine rollout strategy, and manage risks
  • Defining vision and strategies for your product family, using domain expertise, internal and external best practices, identifying market opportunities, building business cases, and approving objectives
  • Building collaborative relationships with key partners by driving priorities aligned to business goals, communicating and prioritizing product roadmaps, and gaining buy-in from executive leadership
  • Providing overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs

Required experience

  • Expert in advanced robotics, SLAM, 3D point cloud, computer vision, machine learning, planning and control
  • Familiar with NVIDIA frameworks and pipeline tooling for computer vision
  • Fluent on at least one programming language. Python/C++ preferable
  • Experience with rapid prototyping for software solutions
  • Desire to continue participating in the work, contributing as part of a larger team on day-to-day IC tasks
  • Master’s degree in either Computer Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent

The annual salary range for this position is $144,000.00-$216,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:

– Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)

– Stock equity incentives
