Sr. UX Manager, Delivery Experience

Are you interested in helping Amazon redefine the meaning of “fast” and “convenience” in delivery? The Delivery Experience (DEX) team is responsible for making sure that customers around the world get their stuff when, how, and where they want it.

We are seeking a Senior UX Manager to drive experience strategy, vision, and design execution for global delivery experience programs. In this role, you will lead a design team and collaborate with partner teams to create experiences that delight customers. Your leadership empowers teams to create and deliver visionary and customer-focused experiences. Your peers will be product and engineering leaders, and you will report to the Head of Design.

Key job responsibilities
• Work cross-functionally to drive elegant design solutions from early concept through final implementation and iteration.
• Define, develop, and socialize the vision for innovative new solutions, solving some of our toughest delivery challenges through design-driven approaches.
• Hire, coach, and support a multi-disciplinary design team; act as a role model, mentor, and motivator in creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
• Champion cohesion in design that reduces complexity and simplifies the growing family of delivery programs and features, while fostering a strong culture of research and innovation.
• Lead cross-team conceptual development; work across multiple organizations to identify overlaps and efficiencies in design and product thinking.
• Proactively plan ahead, look around corners, and effectively partner with design, product, and engineering counterparts to plan/prioritize work, resolve issues, and remove roadblocks.
• Use data and customer insights to confidently defend design solutions with senior leaders.
• Lead brainstorming and critique sessions that foster big thinking while raising the bar on the details.
• Use systems-level design thinking to drive design solutions that scale from your team.
• Creating accessible and scalable customer experiences

A day in the life

The role involves close partnership with senior product managers, tech leaders, and partner teams to deliver high-impact design work at a global scale. The design leader embodies and instills in their team customer-centric judgment in all parts of the design process, enables their team to validate their design strategies, and maintains the highest design standards, relentlessly advocating for high quality customer experiences.

About the team

The DEX Design team is a multi-disciplinary group with skill sets spanning UX Design, UX Writing, Visual Design, Research, and Marketing. In order to deliver smiles we focus our innovation on:
• Customer delivery experiences: We are the face of Amazon’s ever-evolving transportation capabilities across programs at Amazon.
• Post-purchase engagement: We are the stewards for our customers’ tracking and order history experiences.
• Worldwide scale: We create innovations for customers and logistics operators to ensure that every delivery we make is successful and delightful.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 10+ years of design experience

– 5+ years of leading multi-discipline Design teams (ie. visual design, interaction design, user research, etc.) experience

– Experience managing teams

– Experience leading a diverse team in the delivery of experiences from end to end (user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity visuals)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior leaders outside of design

– Experience embedding design within product teams for agile design and development collaboration

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $268,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
