About Us
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. Job Description
Exciting Opportunity! Join the Naval Nuclear Laboratory as a Project Manager and be part of project team supporting the United States Navy! Manage projects associated with the Radioactive Materials Laboratory (RML) to deliver testing capabilities for NNL. This includes projects that will improve the RML maintenance, increase testing capability and capacity, and improve operational efficiency. Duties also include support of maintenance, operations, and emergent projects required to meet testing objectives. Examples include test equipment replacements, hot cell maintenance, and asbestos abatement.
Responsible for managing projects or programs with multiple integrated projects including defining, planning, and ensuring execution of all tasks necessary to meet project objectives. Specific responsibilities include creating and maintaining the project team infrastructure, obtaining necessary resources to staff and support the project, defining project scop and work breakdown structure, developing cost estimates and resource loaded schedules, evaluating change requests and approving or rejecting as appropriate, managing overall costs versus budget, managing subcontracted relationships, identifying and mitigating project risks, interfacing with and integrating the efforts of stakeholders, support personnel and line management to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience; project management experience required or; Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience; project management experience required.
Preferred Skills
Demonstrated ability to produce and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6.
Demonstrated ability to produce a Project Management Plan, execute projects, and use other project management tools and principles.
Strong communication skills with test teams, management, and ability to lead teams.
Understanding of Environmental, Safety, and Health requirements for inclusion into projects.
Understanding of Radiological requirements for inclusion into projects.
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at a time.
Demonstrated ability to articulate technical ideas/concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Project analysis background or experience.
Experience leading diverse teams to achieve business objectives.

Pay Range
$105,600 – $158,400 annually
