The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory includes the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and the Naval Reactors Facility which have proudly supported the nation since 1946. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory has nearly 8,000 employees working at primary locations in Pennsylvania, New York, South Carolina, and Idaho. Job Description

The NNL is the prime government contractor tasked with supporting all aspects of the nation’s Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The Naval Reactors Facility is one of many locations that supports that mission. The Engineering Department develops and maintains equipment, processes and procedures for managing and processing spent naval nuclear fuel.
The Nuclear Engineer (Entry Level) role is to support the handling and examination of spent naval nuclear fuel. This includes preparing for and executing the receipt, installation, testing, checkout, and maintenance of spent nuclear fuel handling and examinations equipment, as well as operations support.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
BS degree in engineering or Bachelor’s degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university required.
Preferred Skills
- Degree(s) in electrical, mechanical, or nuclear engineering
- Preferred education requirements for this position include: 3.2 GPA or higher in undergraduate and/or graduate degree coursework.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency
- Strong Technical Writing Skills
Other desirable qualifications include demonstrated project management, leadership experience with diverse teams, a demonstrated ability to work and communicate with multiple organizations/stakeholders, and/or experience in nuclear or radiological work

Pay Range
$64,500 – $96,700 annually

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
