Job Description:
Building Oversight and Monitoring
- Provide oversight for all staff on duty during shift, including but not limited to housekeeping, maintenance, productions, , and event coordinators; provide information and resolve problems or concerns that may come from staff or customers; manage or direct special tasks as required
- Unlock doors to allow housekeeping staff to clean, and secure rooms and areas when cleaning tasks are completed
- Respond appropriately to requests from hotel staff regarding issues with hotel guests, including but not limited to noise complaints and problems with furnishings or appliances
- Act accordingly as needed to prevent unauthorized activity in the building and surrounding areas and ensure that there is no disruption of events in building; engage University Police as needed
- Open designated doors and secure designated doors at building opening and closing times respectively; ensure that all persons not authorized to remain in building leave the building at closing time
- Attend to all building emergencies and critical incidents; manage and direct JWRU staff in the appropriate response and action steps; assist emergency responders as requested; communicate with upper-level supervisors regarding details of emergency response actions; complete required reports and documentation accurately and timely
- Interpret university and JWRU policies for students, staff and building users
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, ADA and other relevant regulations at all times
- Provide accurate information and customer service to guests both at the Information Desk and throughout the facility
Event Oversight and Monitoring
- Act as host and building management representative for meetings, conferences, and events including but not limited to banquets, lectures, or dances; communicate with sponsor’s event coordinator to ensure all arrangements are satisfactory and resolve any problems as needed
- Review room diagrams and set-ups to ensure that all equipment including audio visual, room furnishings and amenities are delivered, set up, and operable in a timely manner according to customers’ requests
- Assist with room/equipment set-ups as needed to ensure high standards of customer service
- Ensure access to rooms as appropriate to support staff and/or customers in a timely manner
Building Inspection
- Regularly inspect all areas of the JWRU building for fire and other hazards, unauthorized persons, and other safety and security concerns; areas to be checked include but not limited to fire tower entrances and exits, hallways, meeting rooms, dining and kitchen areas, and hotel area
- Periodically inspect adjacent grounds and parking lot areas to deter theft and vandalism, and prevent unauthorized use of building and adjacent areas; report fire and safety hazards, security concerns, and improperly parked vehicles
Reporting
- Advise Operations Team and other supervisors immediately of situations and circumstances that warrant immediate management attention or can be categorized as need to know
- Complete a comprehensive and detailed report at end of shift indicating relevant and important information and occurrences in the areas of building maintenance and operations, staffing, event management, safety and security, and any other relevant matters
- Make recommendations to supervisors regarding policies and/or operating guidelines and procedures as needed
Develop reports, handle special projects, tasks, and other duties as assigned
Expected Salary:
$16.77/HR
Shift Differential is added to the base hourly wage for the second shift
Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience with on-site building and/or event management
- Proficiency with computers and basic software applications
- Communication skills (verbal and written)
- Customer service skills
- Interpersonal skills
- Function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
- Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Work as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment

Normal Schedule:
Wednesday through Sunday, 3:30PM to 11:30PM
Shift Differential is added to the base hourly wage for the second shift
- Flexibility to adjust schedule may be required (including occasional mornings, days, and weekends) depending on the demands of position and/or department needs.
- JWRU Building staff are ‘essential staff’ and may be called to work if the JWRU is selected as an emergency shelter or essential staff are deemed necessary.
- JWRU building is open 7 days per week and most holidays; employees may be required to work weekends and holidays as needed
