Class Summary
Incumbents are responsible for performing semi-skilled labor tasks related to maintaining snow landscapes at the ski area.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Receives direction from the Ski Area Superintendent or higher-level management staff.
Typical Class Essential Duties
1. Performs trail maintenance duties including shoveling, smoothing bumps and moguls, maintaining snow depth in high traffic areas, reshaping and rebuilding trails, managing snow at fences and drifts, spreading man-made snow, plowing snow, and packing fresh snow.
2. Operates a variety of snow grooming and snowmaking equipment, including snowplows, snow groomers, snowmaking guns, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and utility terrain vehicles (UTVs).
3. Performs minor repairs on tools and equipment and reports the need for major repairs; checks and adjusts fluid levels; greases and lubricates parts as required; cleans and cares for tools and equipment.
4. Performs basic cleaning of spectator areas and other hardscapes, empties trash receptacles and debris management, stocks restrooms, and performs similar building maintenance tasks.
5. May perform light cleaning and/or housekeeping activities.
6. Completes daily operational reports, as assigned.
7. Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
8. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

- Follow all City safety rules and procedures and immediately report all accidents/incidents or unsafe conditions to a supervisor.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of one-year performing manual labor and/or light/heavy equipment operation.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
LICENSING and CERTIFICATIONS
- Possession of a valid Wyoming Driver’s License preferred.

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, lifting, gripping/grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up-to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Incumbents may be frequently subject to prolonged sitting, as well as standing, walking, or climbing relatively steep inclines and/or ladders on snow-covered and icy surfaces. Physically demanding manual labor such as shoveling, raking, and digging is common. Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, loud noise, and vibration when operating equipment is expected. Incumbents may be subject to frequent environmental exposures to dusts, odors, chemicals, sun, heat, cold, moisture, and other extreme climate/weather conditions. Required personal protective equipment includes appropriate outerwear and footwear for outdoor winter weather, gloves, hearing protectors, and eye protectors.
The City of Casper does not offer any benefits for employees who hold regular part-time positions who do not meet minimum hours worked.
