Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys in all aspects of Rivian’s litigation and pre-litigation disputes, including fact investigation (document collection and management; witness interview scheduling, etc.), fact and expert discovery, motion practice, mediation and potential settlement, trial/arbitration and appeal.
  • Prepare, distribute and track Litigation Hold Notices.
  • Respond to subpoenas and third-party requests for information.
  • Work with Rivian’s IT and Investigations teams and external eDiscovery vendors in support of litigation and investigations.
  • Maintain litigation-related files and internal litigation calendar.
  • Conduct legal research on procedural and substantive topics.
  • Investigate and handle small claims matters.
  • Support attorneys in managing outside counsel.
  • Assist with periodic financial, executive and Legal team reporting on litigation matters.
  • Schedule and support Litigation Team training presentations.
  • Manage and assist with special projects, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate.
  • 6+ years of paralegal experience supporting an active litigation practice in a law firm or in-house legal setting.
  • Experience supporting one or more of the following types of litigation: supplier disputes, intellectual property, securities or regulatory matters.
  • Solid experience with legal technology, including, Westlaw, Relativity, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Purview (f/k/a Microsoft eDiscovey), Confluence
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment; no sharp elbows.
  • Demonstrated track record as a solutions-oriented self-starter.
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and limited structure; excited about creating processes and procedures.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Clear written and oral communication and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional clients.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • This is what will make you stand out:
    • JD or law degree from a non-US educational institution.
    • Experience working at an automotive OEM.
    • Hands-on trial experience.

Pay Disclosure

Hourly Range for Palo Alto, CA based applicants:$55/hour – $64/hour (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).

Hourly Range for Irvine, CA based applicants: $51/hour – $59/hour (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
