Description of Job
The Work Unit

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) serves Coloradans by providing high-quality, cost-effective public health and environmental protection services that promote healthy people in healthy places. Staff members focus on evidence-based best practices in the public health and environmental fields and play a critical role in educating people in Colorado so they can make informed choices. In addition to maintaining and enhancing our core programs, the department continues to identify and respond to emerging issues affecting Colorado’s public and environmental health.

The Position
Assist vital records staff with data entry into COVIS (Colorado Vital Information System), EDRS (Electronic Death Registration System) and other vital records systems.

Assist vital records staff with scanning of remaining vital records documentation into Perceptive, the vital records document management system. Once scanned link the new scanned document with the associated record in COVIS or EDRS.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

The candidate must meet one of the following or a combination of experience/education to meet the minimum qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position such as vital records with data entry and system preparation.

OR

  • Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year
    basis.

Conditions of Employment:Pursuant to CDPHE policy, a background check is required for all positions at CDPHE.

Preferred Qualifications and Essential Competencies:
The preferred experience, competencies, and abilities are highly desirable for this position and will be considered in selecting the successful candidate:

  • Professional-level experience with Colorado Vital Information System.
  • Experience in Electronic Death Registration System.
  • Experience with Colorado Vital Events Systems (COVES).
  • Experience with Perceptive, the vital records document management system.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and community.
  • Excellent Attention to detail.
  • Ability to preform repetitive tasks with high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
