Project Manager – Large/Complex Electrical Projects

Electrical Products is a business unit of Siemens Smart infrastructure. Siemens Smart Infrastructure (SI) is shaping the market for intelligent, adaptive infrastructure for today and the future. The Project Manager will report into Smart Infrastructure, Electrical Products for North America, International Operations – Strategy & Process Technology department which is responsible for operational strategy and process development through all SI EP facilities.

The Project Manager for Large/Complex Projects will lead or represent operations in multidisciplinary teams that implement projects focused on bringing product to market. These projects may focus on either new product introductions or expansion of existing capacities. A Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Process will be used by the team to ensure a staged agile approach is taken for introduction where risk, investment and benefit are weighed by the team at controlled milestones as a given project is executed.

Success will be measured in terms of each project. This includes:
– Executing the project within the defined requirements (e.g., budget, time, functionality).
– Ensuring the benefits as stated in the business case can be achieved – this is typically product feature set, quality levels, capacity output and delivery timeliness.
– Ensuring timely decisions on open issues, identifying risks, escalating if necessary.
– Preserving, and potentially improving, the return on investment initially established by the first phases of the project.
– Providing stakeholders insight and feedback throughout the project lifecycle.

In the context of Engineering:
– Leading and coordinating with a network of technical specialists that are divided into sub-teams, to realize project implementation sub-strategies such as logistics, order processes, supply chain, manufacturing, quality management strategy and all related aspects required for the project. A portion of the projects will involve extension and expansin of our supply chain.
– Performing technical risk management and actively mitigating risks in an initiative-taking manner.
– Developing and improving measurement systems that monitor the project and eventually allow the project to be fully integrated into daily operations. This may entail development of daily operations if new capabilities are required for a project.
– Continuously improving the processes implemented with SI EP.

The goals of given project will be defined by the business case or project charter of each project. Typically, these will consist of a schedule, benefit in terms of product volume-revenue-cost or cost savings, and project implementation costs.

You will make an impact by:
– Appling project management methodology and processes within a PLM process
– The ability to work effectively with all facets of the organization from design to manufacturing.
– Providing diligent and transparent Project Reporting and Controlling including formal reports.
– Achieving project goals including preserving the ROI established during the initial phases of the project detailed in the business plan. Key business decisions will be evaluated as to their potential impact to that project success factors especially ROI, schedule, and resources.
– Controlling project scope, achieving goal and deliverables.
– Developing and framing full-scale projects and associated communications plans for each phase of the project including future strategic phases.
– Monitoring & predicting project performance to ensure achievement of approved timeline at planned milestones,
– As leader of a project – manage the overall project team(s), manage the overall budget performance. As member of a project team – provide appropriate feedback to the leader, assisting in the achievement of budget performance.
– Utilizing skills to ask questions to open dialog, check assumptions, and resolve conflicts. Identify risks involved in the project and provide mitigation direction.
– Driving a high-performance ownership culture.
– Estimating the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
– Project Management (PM) experience (scheduling, budgeting, resourcing, prioritizing, risk identification and mitigation) (Prefer PMP Certification or equivalent) with proven project successes.
– Minimal 5 years’ experience managing large, complex projects.
– Minimal 2 years’ experience in a stage gated Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Process system.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Relationship building including motivating multidisciplinary teams.
– Direct experience in Engineering (Prefer a Bachelor of Science Engineering degree: Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Mechatronics).
– High proficiency in PM and communication tools (Excel, Word, Project & Visio)
– Knowledge of Safety in industrial production.
– Experience in development of supply chain including contract or brand label manufacturing.
– Prefer experience in the electrical apparatus / power distribution and control industry.
– Travel required: approximately 50%.

• The pay range for this position is $87,000 – $149,200. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
