Utility Worker (FT Event Set up and Janitorial)| Miami Beach Convention Center

Overview

This position is responsible for performing janitorial, housekeeping, and event and room set up tasks as directed by the Operations Manager and/or Event Operations Supervisor.

This role will pay a salary of $16.

Responsibilities

  • Performs janitorial tasks, including restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, trash removal and other duties as directed by the Event Operations Supervisor or department managers.
  • Operates mechanical equipment including scrubbers, floor machines, shampoo machines, and sweepers as needed.
  • Assists in bringing problem areas to the attention of the Event Operations Supervisor.
  • Assists the Event Operations Supervisor in identifying ways to increase efficiency and productivity within the facility.
  • Performs set-ups and breakdowns of meeting rooms/halls respective to tables, chairs, staging requirements as needed by the client.
  • Ensures proper care and use of facility equipment and supplies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent desired.
  • Knowledge of basic janitorial and safety procedures, as well as standard public assembly facility standard room set-ups.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic janitorial and safety procedures, as well as standard public assembly facility standard rooms’ set-ups.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions from Floor Supervisors.
  • Ability to work with detail and efficiency.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • No certifications are required.

The Utility Worker works in indoor and outdoor work settings with mild to adverse exposure to environmental hazards. The incumbent must be able to climb stairs and ladders and walk long distances to access all areas of the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild to loud. Incumbents in this position work in varying settings and will be subject to noise and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odor, dust, etc.
