Overview
The Marketing Content Copywriter (Marketer II) is responsible for writing compelling content and copy for the University Marketing & Communications office (UMAC) that communicates the university’s brand experiences.
As the content and marketing copywriter, you will:
- Sell brand experiences, degrees, products and concepts through the power of words.
- Be a creative leader within UMAC
- Collaborate with UMAC’s design, video and imaging, and marketing management teams on creative projects.
Hybrid: This position is eligible for hybrid remote work within the state of Utah.
Responsibilities
- Writing short-form marketing copy for a wide range of formats, including:
- digital media platforms, including paid and organic search
- online display and print advertising
- email marketing
- websites/landing
- social media
- marketing collateral such as brochures, posters, and an annual report
- original blog content
- radio spots
- video scripts including broadcast TV spots
- news releases and editorial content, etc
- Conceptualize and execute ad and marketing campaigns in digital, broadcast and print media while collaborating with a creative team of designers, video producers, photographers, web developers, and marketing managers.
- Proofread and edit copy written by others within UMAC’s service area.
- Sign off on copy projects before client review and final production to ensure no typos exist and proper grammatical standards are met.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the university’s competitive marketplace.
- Accept other writing tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as journalism, marketing or English plus two years of experience writing to a consumer audience with an excellent writing portfolio or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.
- Ability to vary language, style, and tone of messages depending upon the audience message and marketing channel.
- Basic understanding of writing for SEO and social media engagement.
- Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills.
- Flexible work schedule for projects that go beyond 8-5.

Advertised Salary
$48,880 – $50,000 commensurate with experience, plus excellent benefits
