We are looking for a Head of Social Media to join us working across two of Reach’s national brands – Mirror and Express Online. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive traffic and be the go to person for exciting social content for our brands.
Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.
Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle – all targeted at US audiences.
We’re now entering a period of rapid growth, and are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams.

This role is a office based working from our New York hub, we are therefore open to candidates commutable to New York. Please note in order to be suitable for this role you must be eligible to work in the US.
Job Description
What will the role involve?
You will manage our social media team for both brands, working to drive page views and be responsible for the overall output across our social platforms, from number of stories to tone. You will manage a small team of editors and develop the social media strategy for our US titles. You will oversee traffic and revenue targets, engagement and retention rates, always looking for opportunities to grow.
You will review and assess social content performance regularly, constantly coming up with new and creative ways to get the most out of our platforms and grow our audiences. You will keep up to date with all social media platforms and their changes, disseminating this knowledge to your team. You will create workshops and train journalists on social media best practices.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are a social media expert with in-depth knowledge of all major platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, TikTok, Snapchat and Reddit. You are used to working within a fast-paced digital newsroom environment and has a strong understanding of the power of social media. You have social video editing skills and a sharp eye for what makes for an engaging story.
You are a supporting people manager with excellent communication skills. You are able to create accurate and engaging content at pace, meet deadlines with ease. You keep your finger on the pulse of current affairs and know what is going viral across social platforms.
