Introduction to Shield AI
Founded in 2015, Shield AI is a venture-backed defense technology company whose mission is to protect service members and civilians with intelligent systems. In pursuit of this mission, Shield AI is building the world’s best AI pilot. Its AI pilot, Hivemind, has flown a fighter jet (F-16), a vertical takeoff and landing drone (V-BAT), and a quadcopter (Nova). The company has offices in San Diego, Dallas, Washington DC and abroad. Shield AI’s products and people are currently in the field actively supporting operations with the U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. allies.
We are seeking a friendly and organized individual to work in a temporary capacity from October 1 through October 27 (4 weeks.) As an office receptionist, you will be the glue that holds everything together on a day-to-day basis to support while our full time administrator is out of the office. You will receive one week training from them and then handle the San Diego office for the remaining time. This is an exciting opportunity to gain some work experience within a fun, innovative and scaling tech unicorn!
What you’ll do:
- Daily administrative office needs.
- HQ Front Desk presence to welcome and record visitors.
- Stocking necessary office supplies and consumables for both San Diego offices.
- Kitchen management – stock with healthy snacks, beverages, cleaning supplies, and dishes for downtown San Diego office.
- Maintain cleanliness, order, and overall office experience for the downtown San Diego office.
- Company Phone Calls (official company number only).
- Managing Post (sending, collecting, and distributing).
- Managing Parcels (receiving and sending).
- Support logistics for on-site events.
- Additional miscellaneous tasks as required for the success and growth of the business and the team.

- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- You are comfortable working and communicating with executives.
- You have customer service experience.
- You have great interpersonal and time management skills.
- You have reliable means of transportation to and from work for frequent errands throughout the day (for restocking food and office supplies).
- Previous office receptionist experience preferred.
Required qualifications:
- Must be able to move up to 25 pounds, as required for stocking.
- Physical activity includes ability to remain in a stationary position and/or move for extended periods of time.
- This role works in an office environment.
- This role must comply with applicable health and safety laws and regulations.
$21 – $28 an hour
Total compensation: Salary within range listed above + Bonus + Benefits + Equity (if applicable)

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. All offers are contingent on a cleared background check.
