Position Summary:
The Patient Accounts Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising the daily operations of the patient accounting department to ensure accuracy and efficiency in executing the billing cycle functions. As a leader at HealthPoint, leads according to the framework of the Leader Compact with respect for people driving behaviors and decision-making. Using HLMS, collaborates with Patient Accounts Manager and Patient Accounts team to develop and maintain standard work and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
Compensation is dependent on skills and experience.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS and INFORMATION
- This position is hybrid remote with in office requirements of two days a week at our Renton Admin office.
- Full Revenue Cycle background a plus with an emphasis on Accounts Receivables
- Detail oriented leader with excellent people and time management skills for the fast paced environment
- Change Management skills needed for the organizational transition to Epic EHR in Fall of 2024
- NextGen and Epic experience preferred.
- Excel skills required.
- Familiar with LEAN principles and methodology
- Technology literate, able to trouble shoot and assist staff in a virtual environment around minor issues.
- Excellent customer service, mediation and de-escalation skills required to assist staff with complex patient interactions via phone.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Organize and manages the daily operations of the department. Coordinates team activities and schedules work assignments to meet billing deadlines.
- Develop and implements strategies to improve KPI’s for billing department, including A/R turnover, reduction of bad debt, clean claims, denial tracking, and other standard measures of revenue cycle performance using HLMS.
- Serve as a resource to front/back-office clinic and administrative staff and provides technical assistance to front office supervisors, Patient Accounts Manager on daily operational issues involving billing and patient accounts functions.
- Collaborate with Coding Supervisor to ensure appropriate CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes for services provided are entered into the practice management system accurately.
- Partner with the Patient Accounts Manager to maximize functionality of PM system developing workflow and ensuring accuracy in cash posting and account follow up. Works with team to resolve billing and collection issues.
- Evaluate production and billing reports to inform operations. Assist Patient Accounts staff with billing issues, denials management, follow up and review for insurance purposes. Uses data to drive improvement.
- Develop and monitors department standard work using HLMS tools and processes.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local statues and regulations, as well as all third-party payer policies.
- Responsible for hiring, training, performance management, employee relations, and recognition of patient accounting staff by providing effective leadership. Provides remedial training as needed.
- Maintain good attendance, is punctual and works full scheduled shift is a condition of employment.

- Continuously evaluate and improve processes and procedures to streamline and enhance office operations using the HealthPoint Lean Management System (HLMS) tools and processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings and participate on team committees and task force activities where SME is required.
- Serves as back up to Patient Accounts Manager.
Must have’s you’ll need to be successful:
- Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to three years Lead or Supervisor in revenue cycle environment or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of functional area under supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and other complex documents. Ability to write routine correspondence such as letters and memos. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to internal and/or external clients.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction. Constructive thinking and alternative short- to long-term solutions must be considered. Action plans must be developed and implemented.
- Possesses intermediate operating knowledge of computers. Intermediate level of Word, Excel and Outlook required. Experience with electronic practice management and electronic health records required.
Proof of vaccination for COVID-19 is required, prior to start. All new employees are also required to show proof of immunizations and/or immunity to MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, annual Influenza and TB QuantiFERON Gold Titer. Additionally, if you work in a HealthPoint clinic, Tdap (within last 10 years) is required. Hepatitis B. is required for clinical employees with potential exposure to blood/blood products. All immunizations are a condition of employment. Upon hire, employees must provide proof of their immunizations and/or immune titer results prior to starting or no later than their fifth (5) business day of employment.
