The Commerce Engineering Operation group in Commerce + Ecosystems focuses on delivering high quality customer and partner experiences and exceptional business outcomes through Microsoft’s commerce systems, today and in the digitally transformed future. We do this by:
- Designing, innovating, automating and sustaining scalable end-to-end operational solutions.
- Collaborating with business teams to help our internal partners sell products and services, and our customers buy them, in a secure, frictionless manner.
- Partnering with engineering to build systems that are compliant by design, flexible, configurable and have impactful feedback loops.

Risk Management services provide anti-fraud protection to each transaction going through Commerce Platform, ensure legit customers can come in smoothly with minimum friction while fraudsters are blocked. Our services make decisions with ML models in split seconds in huge scale, run near-real-time / offline scans to catch missed fraud, provide sophisticated tooling to enable human fraud experts investigating suspicious cases, and operate data platform to empower other anti-fraud innovations.
The Commerce Engineering Operation group is looking for a Software Engineer to help us with the adoption of new technologies, add features and continue to improve responsiveness and throughput for different scenarios. As you take on these technical challenges, you have access to technical subject matter experts, world- class engineers and architects for guidance. These projects provide plenty of technical challenges and career growth opportunities.
Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#.
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ Experience with or exposure to Agile and iterative development processes.
- 1+ years’ experience in cloud.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience architecting and delivering distributed cloud services (Microsoft Azure stack is helpful, but not required).
- Experience in DevOps to maintain live services andor application frameworks.
- Passion for building highly scalable, highly reliable services.
- Experience with problem solving and debugging.
Software Engineering IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 – $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 – $198,600 per year.
