The NA Stores Prime and Marketing team is seeking an Executive Creative Director to drive the creative vision of innovative and effective marketing experiences across the Prime customer journey and retail categories; driving traffic, awareness, and engagement.
Who You Are
In this role, you will inspire and direct internal and external creative resources in line with Amazon and Prime brand guidelines; effectively pitch and align senior leadership to new ideas; and work across marketing, merchandising, and product development programs. You will also unify strategy and execution across mediums and touch points in partnership with mass and performance marketing teams. This leader requires not only creative vision and an ability to drive consistency, but will also provide feedback and guidance to a wide array of creative, editorial, and production teams; while looking for opportunities to optimize processes and delivery.

• Raises the bar on design quality (never satisfied with status quo) with a team of strong design talent.
• Owns and drives scalable mechanisms used by the design team to work with multiple partners teams in order to get alignment on customer problems, product vision, and accurate priorities.
• Works proactively through the ambiguity of understanding customer needs, defining new products, and applying new technologies.
• Stays on the cutting edge of what’s new in technology and user experience.
• Maintains healthy relationships with partners and stakeholders across Amazon.

Creative Thinking:
• Have a strong POV and creative vision along with a clear, concise ability to provide direction to internal and external partners.
• Lead large, strategic design and content marketing projects that present multidisciplinary challenges and span multiple departments.
• Solve for business, customer, and stakeholder requirements while building creative that is unique, stunning, and effective.
• Think across platforms, mastering the idiosyncrasies of each and create tailored content across channels that help drive marketing objectives.
• Identify ways to enable the team to scale and optimize quality for recurring projects – through mechanisms like guidelines, tools, templates and processes.
• Stay current on emerging design trends and broader technologies – and proactively identify opportunities to incorporate best current thinking into designs, strategies, and projects.
• Articulate and pitch creative concepts to peers and senior management.
Creative Execution:
• Obtain and allocate internal/external resources to achieve strategic and operating goals.
• Elevate the creative output of any internal partner or agency/production company vendor to ensure that all marketing assets meet a high level of creativity, innovation and brand association on time and within budget.
• Manage highly visible and complex projects that have wide impact across the business and/or spans across multiple teams or platforms.
• Forecast resourcing needs and work with key stakeholders to drive a schedule for projects while prioritizing and using resources effectively, communicating needs and trade-offs if schedule is at risk.
• Proactively work to solve problems and communicate to senior management, and actively seek clarification when there is ambiguity
Leadership:
• Coach, mentor, and foster the careers of creative, editorial, and production teams.
• Communicate with key stakeholders internally and externally in a spirit of collaboration, building strong relationships with stakeholders, communicating and collaborating effectively, articulating complex issues in an effective manner.
• Work with senior leadership to create policies and procedures that impact the broader organization.

Amazon is investing heavily in building a world class retail business, and the US Prime & Marketing Tech (UPMT) team is responsible for defining and delivering a collection of products that drive product discovery and customer engagement. US Prime team is focused on delivering the most engaging, satisfying, and loved membership program by growing the member base and accelerating engagement with Prime benefits. The Marketing Technology team helps customers discover and engage with new, popular, and relevant products across Amazon worldwide. We do this by combining technology, science, and innovation to build new customer-facing features and experiences alongside cutting edge tools for marketers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Leadership experience in Advertising, Media, and/or Consumer-facing tech.
– 15+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, product designer or similar role designing mobile, web, and/or other applications.
– Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
– Bachelor’s, or equivalent degree, in UX Design, or related field or equivalent professional experience within the design field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience leading design teams through several full product development cycles (from design strategy through execution and market introduction); successful experience as Design Director, Executive Creative Director, Art Director or equivalent role.
– Proven success working in or supporting a fast-paced digital culture
– Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and all levels of an organization (from designers and engineers to senior executives).
– Strong resource and planning skills including the ability to staff and manage design team against high-level roadmaps, projects, and priorities.
– Strong bias for action including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
– Recognized globally as a high judgment expert in design or related fields. Brings value to the design and creative industries at large.
– Passion for learning and innovation, balanced with business needs and customer expectations.
– Proven experience with rapid, iterative design and development processes
– Experience leading projects in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team including designers, engineers, product managers, and marketers.
– Able to work company-wide, and globally.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $221,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $329,500/year in our highest geographic market.
