Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Serve as a staff level position in Operating Financials & Systems. Primary responsibilities include Implementing the financial components of the Integrated Work Management System (FMS/Asset Works) and other internal systems (Agile) and supports the development and execution of the Workday Financial System. Executes FM’s work order, direct-credit card (Nelnet), and RSTAR billing processes. Updates system components including service agreements and space allocations to ensure accurate billing. Researches and resolves billing questions for internal and external customers. This position will recognize and identify underlying problems or issues, apply appropriate accounting and business principles, and present solutions to improve operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in an accounting or business operations unit.
  • Experience ensuring business processes are in compliance with GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles).

Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to adapt and improve business processes based on GAAP and related best practices.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel; proficiency with spreadsheet development, manipulation, and electronic (financial) data analysis.
  • Proficiency with various computer operating systems and business applications (e.g. Windows OS, MS Suite, Google app etc.), as well as Internet and email applications.
  • Strong attention to detail orientation in order to justify and resolve account discrepancies.
  • Strong customer/client relations skills with the ability to exercise professional judgment and tact, as well as interact effectively with a diverse customer base.
  • Ability to gain a thorough knowledge of the university’s budgeting and accounting procedures, policies, and financial systems.
  • Ability to learn from and train others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Preferences:

  • Experience in governmental accounting and project accounting.
  • Experience with Workday, Asset Works or other work order systems, including data retrieval and report generation techniques.
  • Experience with determining the effectiveness of business processes and developing and implementing improvements as needed.

The hiring range for this position is $65,840 – $82,300.
