POSITION: Compassion Food Pantry Coordinator
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Oversee the daily operations of the Compassion Food Pantry. Ensure high quality standards are being met related to food, inventory, staff, volunteers, and customer service. Grow and maintain community partnerships to further the operations of the Compassion Food Pantry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor degree in social service or similar degree preferred.
- A minimum of two years work experience and familiarity with agencies serving at-risk populations; and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with local social service agencies and school districts.
- Knowledge of agencies, community resources, public schools, preschools, and early childhood programs.
- Willingness/ability to work as a team member and independently.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the food pantry.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Computer expertise appropriate to the position.
- History of good job attendance.
- Good communication skills; verbal and written.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license with good driving record; daily access to private insured vehicle during work hours.
- Must pass criminal background checks, and be free from communicable disease.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee product inventory, including ordering, invoicing, and ensuring food availability for daily orders.
- Ensure daily food boxes are being assembled with quality, intention and purpose.
- Facilitate volunteers on a daily basis. This includes scheduling, training, and maintaining an on-going volunteer base.
- Partner with social service organizations, school districts, faith based locations or others who have interest in partnering with the Compassion Food Pantry.
- Maintain spreadsheets in accordance with grant and funding guidelines.
- Organize and assemble data as requested and needed.
- Excellent communication skills with Pantry Directors to ensure pantry runs efficiently and effectively
- Assist with community presentations or requests for information from local agencies or organizations.
- Identify and communicate any gaps in services and work with Pantry Directors to respond to those needs as appropriate.
- Participate in program evaluations as requested or deemed necessary by grant requirements.
- Plan and organize own work to meet priorities and deadlines (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly)
- Participate in any required training through BCESC or Shared Harvest.
- Ensure Compassion Food Pantry maintains SafeServe certification and abides by all food safety and handling guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and safe food pantry.
- Be open, understanding and willing to learn and adjust as the Compassion Food Pantry grows and expands.
- Treat all staff, community members/agencies and families with dignity. Be aware of culture differences and be respectful of their beliefs and food preferences/practices.
- Comply with state and federal regulations that pertain to the position (e.g. OSHA: Occupational Safety Hazard Administration, ORC; Ohio Revised Code).
- Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- To serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- To help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Board policies and procedures; building policies and procedures, public relations and state reporting, safe handling requirements for pantry operations.
Ability to: Interpret policies and procedures; follow instructions; communicate effectively; maintain files and reports; collect, analyze, and input data, schedule; repeatedly lift moderate amounts of weight to move filled food boxes, grasp items repeatedly, bend, twist and stoop.
Skill in: Microsoft programs, Basic math, English and communications.

Copier, fax, computer, and general office equipment,
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasional: Exposure to unruly children/adults, blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
Exposure to traffic and unfavorable weather conditions while driving.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year as established by the Governing Board. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
STARTING DATE: As soon as possible
SALARY: $18.00 – $20.00 per hr. based upon experience and education
BENEFITS: Excellent benefits for all full time employees
WORK YEAR: Full Time – 260 days
