You must possess a license and current registration to practice pharmacy in New York State, and two years of post-licensure experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in public health programs and/or healthcare project management. Administrative and program experience, including but not limited to: interpretation of Federal and State guidance for program staff, developing guidance, program policy and other documents, and preparing reports and correspondence. Ability to formulate program recommendations based upon data analysis. Development and delivery of presentations, written and verbal communications and reports are preferred.
Duties Description As a Pharmacist Consultant, you will analyze prescription data to detect diversion of controlled substances; provide pharmacological research and consultation on special projects relating to drugs, pharmacy, and public health concerns; research and review scheduling of drugs, and serve as a liaison between state and federal agencies with regard to controlled substance scheduling. You will provide written and verbal responses, as well as prepare and provide presentations, for healthcare professionals, professional organizations, and other partners, regarding controlled substance laws and regulations; assist in the development of controlled substance programs and policies, regulations, and laws. You will assist in the development of criteria for drug utilization review programs; perform clinical reviews of medication histories for retrospective prescription drug monitoring programs; conduct reviews to identify aberrant utilization patterns or cases and intervene when warranted, and assist in Bureau initiatives and programs as assigned.
Additional Comments DOH’s Telecommuting Program for NYS DOH staff has been extended through June 30, 2024. The number of permissible telecommuting days for each employee, not to exceed 5 days per pay period, will be determined by the current work demands/assignments as well as program operational needs.
*Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate and job rate for PS&T Grade 25 ($90,806 – $114,444) and an additional State-wide Pay Differential of $11,000.
