About the opportunity
The Associate Technology Project Manager is responsible for supporting the Technology Project Management Office (PMO) function, engaging in Technology Project Management, and assisting in communications at SWCA.
This individual is continuously supporting the improvement of the management framework and best practices of the Technology group’s intake, organization, reporting, and execution of the technology project portfolio. Highly engaged, passionate champion for the standards that go into balancing the scope, time, and cost of delivering projects for the organization. Able to effectively manage differing opinions and personalities while delivering projects to stakeholders’ satisfaction. Takes lead on smaller to medium projects; provides support on complex projects. Additionally offers support to internal communication plans and projects.

This is a full-time, permanent, benefits-eligible position and can be worked in a hybrid or remote capacity.
What you will accomplish
- Manages small and medium technology projects for SWCA’s Technology team; may assist in managing large and complex projects.
- Participates in the SWCA technology change management program, setting an example for effective change management
- Leads project teams through the requirements, design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation of solutions
- Manages project resource schedules, activities, and budget. Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure projects progress and complete on-schedule and on-budget
- Provides effective leadership and guidance over project scope, schedule management, issue management, cost management, and risk management. Drives project teams to make decisions and escalates as needed for additional support/direction
- Performs work independently. Considered a specialist in project management who regularly interacts and works with management
- Ensures effective communications (verbal and written) occur throughout the project with team members, key project stakeholders, and technology management. Includes topics such as status reports, project performance, timeline, budget, risks, issues, and other project deliverables
- Plans for and uses resources efficiently, looks for ways to optimize costs, create accurate and realistic budgets, track and adjust budgets, takes lead on budget planning and reporting for Technology team.
- Collaborates across Technology team to support development and continuous improvement of processes related to project management and business analysis.
- Seeks input and feedback from stakeholders/peers and communicate proactively across those groups.
- Supports coordination of communications plan for Technology team, gathering content from leaders and staff. Supports the CTO in presenting the demands and progress of the Technology team to company management through reports, dashboards, presentations.
Experience and qualifications for success
Qualified candidates will demonstrate an appropriate combination of the following additional competencies and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Business Administration or related field required.
- 5+ years related IT or software development experience, 2 or more years’ experience leading technology projects, and preparing business cases and budgets.
- Experience in leading process-based teams including project portfolio management required.
- Project certification preferred.
- Experience implementing processes and KPIs, setting team goals, and monitoring for continuous process improvement.
- Ability to lead a project team and resolve issues that arise in an efficient and diplomatic manner.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, multi-tasking, prioritizing, patience, and motivation.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments concurrently while maintaining high levels of quality and effectiveness.
Personal Attributes:
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to document work.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
Work Conditions:
- Occasional (<10%) travel to project kick-offs, department meetings, and implementations.

An employee in this Phoenix (HQ) based position can expect an annual salary of $65,520.00-$85,280.00/year. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
