Description

Supervises daily departmental operations related to ensuring all services are authorized, documented and billed in a timely and effective manner. Ensures the accuracy and sufficiency of data entered by staff for use in agency management reports and data analysis.

SUPERVISION:

Position is supervised by the Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management. Position provides supervision to Program Billing Specialist Team Lead and Program Billing Specialists.

WORK DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures that all department staff comply with agency policies and procedures.

Continuously reviews and monitors staff performance to ensure that all procedures are being implemented correctly. Directs Senior Program Billing Specialist as to training needs for staff and monitors completion and progress toward training goals.

Maintains procedures for the audit of clinical documentation to ensure compliance with agency, funding source and accreditation standards. Assists staff in the interpretation and application of the same. Maintains procedures for the timely billing of services. Assists staff in the interpretation and application of the same.

Ensures system daily work and monthly close functions are completed in a timely manner. Generates various reports in order to verify the accuracy of data entry prior to close processes.

Produces monthly close reports from the billing system for use by leadership.

Works with other agency directors and executives to assess areas of operational inefficiency and makes proposals of corrective action and process improvement. Responsible for fostering cooperative relationships with clinical staff.

Analyzes revenue data to determine trends which impact agency operations. Collaborates with Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management and other agency leadership to formulate corrective actions. Monitors corrective actions to ensure intended goals are achieved.

Reviews contractual agreements and ensures appropriate tracking mechanisms and reporting requirements are instituted to ensure contract compliance.

Performs collection efforts for all pay sources. Research uncollected balances and coordinates the collection process. Research unapplied payments to individual accounts and processes necessary adjustments.

Performs other duties as required and/or assigned by supervisor and/or executive staff.

Must have and/or complete Core Level Co-Occurring Training and Trauma Informed Training via Relias within 30 days of employment. Must have current (within past year) TB test; or obtain within 30 days of employment with NorthCare. Must be COVID 19 vaccinated and follow CDC guidelines regarding COVID vaccination.

Qualifications

Position requires two (2) years of prior experience in a billing, coding, or utilization review position. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively with various types and levels of staff required. Must use daily professional communication skills both verbally and in writing. Must possess excellent customer service skills. This position requires a high degree of flexibility, efficiency and problem-solving skills. Must be extremely detail orientated and possess exceptional organizational skills. Must be able to multi-task and stay organized while working with frequent interruptions. Must maintain an organized work area and follow through on assigned tasks.
