ROLE OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer – NA, the Director, Cloud/Data Engineering plays a critical role scoping and delivering cloud-based solutions with our clients. You will work collaboratively with our experienced Google Cloud and Google Marketing Platform experts to deliver sustainable solutions for our customers, including emerging AI driven capabilities. From time to time, you will engage with our partners to unlock new cloud opportunities by showcasing our expertise.

The Cloud/Data Engineer will be responsible for building scalable and reliable data projects to pull large and complex data together from different systems efficiently within the GCP environment. They will assist in developing algorithms and applying cloud intelligence into useful applications, creating data validation methods and analytics products. Building, testing and maintaining data pipelines, working with big and streaming data, and maintaining data privacy and compliance are important competencies. They will collaborate with other data engineers and architects to build the most optimal and efficient ETL and database code as well as align with GCP best practices. This role will be able to explain, design, and resolve technical or design conflicts that may arise.

Clients come to us to solve today’s biggest challenges, surrounding the use of data and technology, to support delivery of improved digital marketing experiences for their customers, across paid, owned and earned environments. Typically, their biggest area of investment is media, and using data and technology, to unlock value in this area is critical. You will display a distinctive level of subject matter expertise on how to architect and deliver advertising / marketing technology and data strategies that accelerate client value, by increasing customer engagement and personalization in this area. Google is a key partner of ours, and a primary route to market – knowledge of the Google Marketing Platform as well as how Google Cloud can improve marketing efforts is a strong bonus.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

This is an excellent opportunity for a Cloud/Data Engineer to join the Data, Insight and Analytics team. You will work with customers to unlock the value of Google’s Cloud Platform to create powerful systems able to accomplish vast business use cases, to be innovative on behalf of clients, and to enhance the measurement and activation of media. You will work closely with Data Analysts, Google Cloud and Google Media experts to deliver ambitious projects for our customers. As part of the role, you will collaborate with the Cloud Engineers/Architects and be a go-to resource on projects. You will also have a key role in developing deep relationships with our core partners and showcase our technical capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with customers to propose modern Cloud solutions from customer requirements
  • Liaise with partners to demonstrate Cloud technical capabilities
  • Contribute to advanced systems planning, scheduling, and implementation
  • Architect scalable data pipelines across cloud data repositories
  • Execute on proof of concepts with new technologies as they roll out from Google
  • Understand and be able to connect GCP to other third-party data systems and sources
  • Review and oversee product enhancements
  • Execute implementations to tight deadlines, working well both independently and as part of a team
  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff and the business
  • Govern our technologies to ensure security standards are met
  • Managing large Cloud projects for our clients across multiple regions globally
  • Work closely with the in-house developers to help share knowledge and improve the quality of practices
  • Taking ownership of projects, gaining a personal satisfaction in achieving high performing environments
  • Working in a DevOps capacity with a desire to automate everything
  • Design and build data pipelines using a Cloud platform
  • Manage and provision the Cloud solution infrastructure for data engineering projects
  • Design for data security, privacy, and compliance
  • Manage and automate ETL and cloud deployment
  • Ensure solution and operations reliability
  • Design and implement Big Data and Data Warehousing solutions with their corresponding Data Governance processes
  • Able to manage Cloud databases
  • Present core cloud concepts to internal and client technical teams
  • Produce presentations to clearly articulate the proposed solution and how they will work together
  • Work with broader consulting teams to produce content on how Cloud solutions can deliver on customer objectives
  • Provide domain expertise around public Cloud and Enterprise technology
  • Educate internal teams on existing/new features and capabilities on Google Cloud Platform to support fulfillment; train employees and offer platform expertise; define roadmap for long-term Customer Google Cloud Platform needs

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform or other cloud-based environments (Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • 4-year college degree in a quantitative or related field or relevant work experience
  • Master’s in a quantitative field a plus
  • Demonstrable deep knowledge and experience in Data Engineering, Cloud based data strategy and transformation, Cloud architecture and engineering.
  • Broad knowledge of the major Cloud vendors, with deep knowledge in GCP
  • Preferred experience with BQ, Dataflow, Vertex AI, Data Proc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer
  • A set of certifications in (GCP): Cloud Architect, Data Engineer, ML Engineer or Cloud Engineer
  • Cost-effective Cloud delivery
  • Deep hands-on experience, building, scalable ETL pipelines (Apache Beam, Airflow)
  • Hands-on programming experience in Python and JavaScript
  • Familiar with ML & AI concepts and application
  • Proven experience developing cloud-based solutions/products
  • Experience with marketing and advertising technologies and their application within cloud
  • Technical depth and experience with SQL
  • Strong problem solving or analytics experience
  • Experience in leveraging Google Analytics data within GCP
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Passionate about working in an extremely fast-paced, demanding, and fluid multiple workstream environment

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $100,000 to $230,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
